Non-metal scoops for the handy man

Jim Pa

New member
Get a piece of plastic construction gas or water pipe.6 or 7 inch DIAMETER.Wrap WITH 1/2 INCH SCREEN TO SPRAY PAINT GRIDS ON IT.Hold screen in place in place with electrical tie ons.Drill your holes in the grid openings.make them 3/8 or 1/2 inch for fast drainage of sand.I cemented plexi-glass on the bottom and drilled the same way.Let enough room up front to form the scoop part. For the long handle I use both 3/4 wood and a 3/4 inc plastic mop handle. Both handles will float.I secured the handles with heavy electricians tie ons to the bottom of the scoop. You can drill a 3/4 hole on the top and slide the handle in to make it stronger. This way there is no metal,so you can just wave the scoop over the coil to see if your target is in it.It also saves your back.Make sure you use heavy wall construction pipe.Hope it helps.

can be waved across the coil for a quick check to see if you got your target. thats way way handy when you're holding your breath on the bottom.
I have made a lot of different scoops, rakes, etc. they all have a use.
Even made a spy glass that lets you see the bottom up to 15 feet down. HH

The pictures do not show up.

I would really like to see what you have made. Would you please try to post them again?:poke:
