Ted S, you left me wondering where 'here' is? You could just have rocky ground. Or, 'hard-as-a-rock' could mean dried-out hot summer ground, or wintry season and frozen solid. No matter, just get the new N/M SMF device and take a winter-time break and visit me in Mid-West Texas and we'll find a place for you to use it. :thumbup:

Good news! Rather than a Christmas present, I'll be watching the user reports with much interest for a few months and then decide. I hope it lives up to many of the expectations folks have voiced.

I am in NE Iowa. Lows in the 20s next week and highs in the 40s with north winds. Thanks for the invite though..:thumbup::thumbup:

I believe their new SMF will do just that. I have been trusting my excellent-performing FORS CoRe for 7 years as of this January, and my FORS Relic will turn 6 years old. They are my primary go-to units for serious Relic Hunting type conditions of heavily concentrated ferrous debris. Their unmasking abilities are top-notch. On Wednesday this week I receive a brand new Impact I bought because it proved itself to me 5 years ago this coming January, but my 'test sample' was stolen with a lot of other detectors and that one never turned up.

The Impact, with 7" Concentric mounted, will be a main-use Coin & Jewelry Hunting unit that can still do service for mist of my challenging Relic Hunting needs.

The coming N/M SMF will be a welcome addition for versatility.

We're not into winter yet, and still in the start of fall but it looks like you're testing the season-to-come. Cooler here now, also. I went to breakfast at 6:45 this morning and put on a coat because it was 46° but we'll have some above average temps through Monday of 74° to 79° before we drop into the 52248 to 70° highs on through about the middle of November. Lows will range 36° to 54° which means we are going to have huntable weather for a while now. Fine with me as I can't handle the long periods of cold conditions like when I was younger. Looking for the SMF to use during these improved winters.

Wife and I bought a house in South Carolina just far enough away from the ocean to be on ground high enough to avoid the historically highest storm surge. We are between ten and fifteen minutes away from access to miles and miles of beach and have parking arranged too. I'm pretty well outfitted detector wise for beach and wading in the ocean detecting and have cut down on dirt detecting. That is why I'll wait for reports rather than get one as soon as available. I will be looking forward to your observations as well as any and all reports on wet salt sand detecting with it.
 
That's great news. It will be too late for me as winter will have frozen everything over by the time I can get one but I'll let the people down south try it out and report. Any chance we can see an image of it before the official launch ? Has it been named yet ?

When I type in 1800, or 6:00PM GMT+3, it shows 10:00 AM CST, not EST, here in the USA on the 19th. So that would be 8:00 AM PST for those on the western portion of the USS. Make sure yuo're awake for this announcement to start the day on Friday the 19th.

This is literally what wife and I did but in Alabama. 15-20 min from beaches, higher ground, 40 min from Florida beaches and 1 hour from Mississippi beaches. Don't dirt hunt near as often anymore. We almost bought a home in South Carolina but somehow ended up here.
