Heard about it today but no real info about the new functions.............anyone heard anything..

I would like to see the impact become a reality. I like to use notch discrimination at some of the real trashy parks. If it operated like the Racer it would be awesome.

Hello all... I mentioned in my posts some months ago that Impact was the name of a project we were working on and yes it will turn into a product at some point but we do not know the dates yet as it is still in development. Thank you.

First, I'll just clarify I am not a 'notch' Discriminate fan, but there have been a few different interpretations of 'Notch Disc.' which makes it difficult to understand what for you like.

The early 'Notch' systems of about thirty + years ago had a variable window that could be accepted or rejected, but was usually used to notch 'out' ring-type pull tabs. Then for about 25 years we've had Segmented Discrimination which is also referred to as Notch, and now some models have a variable window of adjustment. I'd guess that what you're referring to, that you would like for trashy parks, would be the segmented type notching such as we see on some Garrett and White's models. I have recovered too many good jewelry items that fall into the notched segments of foil, tabs, aluminum, etc., so I don't use it. Instead, I just rely on the visual TID numeric read-out.

Anyway, it might be helpful to readers, and even the manufacturers who monitor their forum and consumer comments, if you were to qualify what type of Notch Discrimination method you like.

I know that by using a notch to get rid of pull tabs, foil, etc you will lose some other valuable targets but in some of the (public) areas I hunt it would be impossible to dig all the pull tab, foil, signals hoping for that gold ring. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of them at most of the places I hunt. Not to mention it would probably get the park closed down for everyone.

I like the notch system on the F19, one window that is adjustable. The segmented type like on other detectors is ok if setup right but so many times the manufacturer sets them and the target usually falls right on the break point which makes you have to open two segments. Then you have some that have a real wide notch about 10 ID numbers. Way too loose for a trashy park. I would like to see one adjustable notch like on the F19 but with all the features of the racer and then some. I think that would be an ultimate park hunter.

I agree Bill.. I dig some of those type parks too. No way could you dig all day long looking for a ring.................. I use the ID filter to take out what I don't want..and appreciate how much the racer does find.
Just a low end notch taking out each individual number would be a nice feature for sure.. But Like I stated the ID Filter works fine too..

It would be really cool to be able to pick and choose what numbers you wanted to accept or reject like on the v3i

To me, notch is a very valuable tool. I am primarily a jewelry hunter. So far found 116 gold rings using notch. It all depends on what you are looking for and where you are hunting and what you are hunting for. To be a dig it all hunter in locations I hunt in , you would need a strong back and a lot of time. Most of the jewelry lost today is in pull tab heaven type of places. I don't have the back or the time to dig every pull tab in local parks....Jack

Hit an area with a ton of one type junk. Notch it out..and find the rest .... so what if you missed a good item or two.. The ability to detect more area , less junk digs would override that in my opinion..
One could detect longer, cover more ground, and by shear volume hit more good targets..

XLT e-series off my hands and notch accept or reject any of the 191 VDI numbers you'd like. I'll continue on with my FORS CoRe and Racer's and do just fine .... for me and my chosen sites.

I don 't see the difficulty involved in a notch system integration into an existing format. Lets face it , Nokta and Makro are connected. I think the Impact is much closer to a reality than people are being led to believe---just sayin...............

Hello... just to clarify..The Impact project is not just about adding a notch system to an existing format.
Impact is the name of a different detector in terms of looks as well as features.
As the manufacturer, we are not leading any customer to believe anything in terms of how close or far away we are for launching the product.
All we have been saying that it is still in development and as you can imagine we cannot be discussing all the steps of a new product development project on a public forum.

Ok, lets forget the name impact. We would like to see a detector that operates like the racer but has the ability to use notch discrimination. Call it what you want.............;o) Just because it has the notch feature does not mean a person would have to use it.

I can understand not wanting to discuss "all the steps of a new product development" on a public forum, but where else are you going to get input from prospective buyers?

I'm relieved the Racer I'm considering to purchase won't be rendered obsolete by it's sibling in 2015 at least.

You are absolutely right... you, customers, are the start point to everything we do here at Nokta. We try our best to follow all your feedbacks, discussions, and comments closely and try to implement them in our future projects where possible.
