No such thing as a dollar

Very well stated by the Ghost! Mark, you are surrounded by people with much more experience than yourself in detecting who enjoy the hobby very much and are honestly trying their hardest to help you out. Nobody here will be able to tell you what your Ping Ping Honk Ping signals are. You have to put the work in and investigate like the rest of us did. This is not a hobby for people who always take the easy way out. I am honestly not sure that you are here looking for help. I think maybe you use this forum more to vent your frustration for a new hobby that you refuse to enjoy and probably never will. It's not for everybody. At this point I am done responding to any of your posts because you are beyond help and at the very edge of my patience threshold. Maybe try something more peaceful like Origami to relax you a little bit. I'm sure before too long you will be on an Origami forum complaining about how its not fair that your chicken wont turn out right because you weren't born Chinese. Don't know what to tell ya', JJ

Only if you want to find the good stuff or any thing at all . when i get tired of diging trash I go play slots .then think of the new mding stuff I could have bought with the monney I lost.oh well

Hi JJ:

I think you have totally mis-read my posts. I am an engineer and want to understand the variables at play here. I am trying to maximize the science aspect of this hobby while still understanding that the majority of it is art. I also want to learn from other poster's experience about the art component.

I enjoy MDing very much. How you thought otherwise is unknown to me.

If you don't respond that is cool. The sun will still come up in the morning.

Best regards,

Mark

Mark, most guys on here are just guys that work all week, then go md ing every chance they get. Im sure you love the md ing as much as anyone,I myself never think about the science part of it. We mostly think of the luck part of it.Every deep signal I get I thank O Lord let this be a good one.Im Sure there are guys on here that are alot smarter than I am and dont agree with what Ive said, but thats the way I see it Good Luck and HH

The pure fact of the matter on MDing is that it is an inprecise science...Different detectors have a different probabillity of showing a target for what it truely is...With your LCD screens without VDI #s, there are only a limited number of slots to put an endless number of possibillities into. The pure truth is that Gold rings are electrically very near to pull tabs, screw caps, zinc, foil, and iron even. Now a detector with VDI #s might give you a little better clue as to what is really under the coil, but it too is NOT flawless. It all comes down to experience with your detector, and the willingness to dig those iffy signals, because as a famouse treasure hunter once said, "You just never know..."
The most expensive detector on the market is often gonna find less good stuff, than the cheapest detector in the hands of a well experienced hunter.
Just let me get 50 yards behind the new guy with his $1600 White's Vision, and I guarantee you I will smoke him out with my $100 Modified White's Classic II SL (BTW,m I would love to own a Vision).
I thought it was funny. In the garage of my daughter's place, there was an old set of witching sticks (divining rods)...I picked em up and said out loud "Look at this HOODOO!!! These things don't work!" Boy was I surprised as I grabbed em and started walking across the yard and they crossed over where I know the sewer and water lines were, then they crossed again as I passed em over a small drill pree that contains a lot of metal...I found out that they do INDEED work...lol
I have a litttle witch in my blood anyways...Looking back in my family history, Anna Belle Lemp was burned at the stake in Mass. for being a witch...lol
