Night hunting

Rob,

Thanks for the advice on the head lamp. Picked up the Princeton Apec head lamp this evening,,,,,compliments of the girlfriend for my birthday. Great advice, and it works like a charm. May have to use it for open heart surgery someday.

Gary, I've hunted beaches here in South Carolina almost exclusively at night. I recommend rugged cut offs with numerous pockets to wear. I carry a windup flashlight, a hand scoop and a small food/drink supply. I'm a retired big city cop so I stay alert for my personal safety. I've had more than one unpleasant late night incident. I suggest that you don't start conversations...when people ask if you've had any luck just say "found only bottle caps and pulltabs". Never show off your finds...a ring you just found becomes the one they just lost. Wrap extra batteries in plastic...bring bug spray in case it's a still night..Enjoy the beauty of the moon rising out of the ocean on a night when you have the beach to yourself...I do.

Thanks for the great advice. Seems like the night hunts can really be great. I just bought the headlamp that Robracer recommended. It seems like the way to go. Do you hunt in water at night as well?
