NIce Hunt Saved by 24" Silver Chain

I got the electrical problems with my jeep sorted out yesterday and since it is now reliable transportation for not only getting me to the beach but back home as well, I headed down to Horseshoe Bay to see what was on offer. Winds were out of the NW for today's low tide, a cold wind out of my homeland that made for a brisk hunt. Sand has drifted in pretty bad again but I have high hopes that the next gale/storm will stir things up yet again, high winds are forecast for the balance of the week so I am optimistic.
I only managed an hour and a half in the briny before I started to seize up from the cold but during that time I managed a nice 24" .925 silver chain (made in Italy), another ferry token ($4.50), about a buck in clad, a junker ring and Nike guitar pick (a first for me). No gold on offer today but if the gales over the next few days work their magic on the sand I'll be posting gold soon. The next few days may be unhuntable but I'll be watching the skies for lightning and if it isn't around then I'll be heading out for some splash time.

Cheers,

BDA:cool:

Dude you need to quit looking for gold and find a camera. I bet with the weather you were having the other day that all sorts of goodies got stirred up. We had some decent surf for us the past 2 - 3 days, so I haven't been out much. I found my first Silver necklace last week, it was in 3 pieces though.

It was tough to get around with the electrical problems I had with my jeep but fortunately that is sorted out now. Tomorrow I'll head into the capital and see what can be done about my broken camera. Hurricane force winds are forecast for tomorrow night so there will definitely be movement on our beaches, I'm hoping it moves things in the right direction.

Cheers,

What sorta jeep you have B? I've had a CJ,a YJ, and a newer (crappier in my opinion) 98. Jeeps are my favorite and yet you seem to spend a fair amount of time just swearing at them.

There are no 'true' jeeps on the island of Bermuda, no dealer and nobody to service them if you managed to bring one in by ship on your own. Jeep is used in the generic sense of a 4 wheel drive, mine is made by Suzuki which is adequate for the conditions here. Parts are really expensive here by the time you pay for the part, the shipping, the duty and the ungodly mark up. I thought I was going to have to replace the starter ($850 for a rebuilt) but I was able to clean up the old one myself and I replaced the battery ($150). I try to do as much of my own maintenance as possible because it is so expensive here, (an oil change takes half a day and costs $129.00 US for my 1.6 litre engine)
I can justify crawling under my jeep for those kind of prices.

We're all anxious to see more of your pics. How/where did you find the guitar pick? Was it floating in the surf or on the beach? Hmmm, a metal detector that also finds plastic, now that's different. :lmfao:

It is a plastic guitar pick but it has a foil Nike logo embedded in it and my CZ-21 picked up on that. One of the weirder things I have found in a while.
