Newbie with an ACE 250, Question?

Hey fella's, Been detecting in my yard a couple of times now to get the feel for things and though I am finding some coins (clad) I get a lot of hits that say Dime or Quarter in both swing directions only to dig and come up with washers and shotgun shells to name a few. Would it identify better if I turn the sens. down further or is the ACE 250 limited to what it can do? I will say that when I put the sniper coil on my production seemed to be better! That may be just coincidence though. So far just around my house I've found 19 cents, a neat old matchbox truck, seven pull tabs, copper tubing and washers. There is a lot of old logging trails around my house dating back to the mid 1800's so planning on detecting these soon. Would like to not dig so much trash stuff though.
Thanks in advance for any advice! Ben reading this forum everyday for a couple of weeks now and have to say you all are great!

Turn your sensitivity down to four bars and leave it there. Hunt in coins or relic mode. Using the Ace takes some practice and you haven't had near enough. If you have playgrounds in the area covered in bark chips then hunt those. The best place to learn your new detector. Good luck and welcome aboard to the most popular forum on the net.

Thanks for the welcome replies!
Ya, Need more time on the machine for sure. Gotta say so far I'm loven it though! Pinpointing hasn't been a problem just learning how to weed out the trash has been my concern. Was shocked at how much junk is under my lawn!
Ron, you must be a former ARMY RANGER! I'm a former MARINE! OOH RAH!
Thanks,
JJ
