I guess I like all the bands at times, but
probably hang out on the lower bands the most.
I always liked 30m. Thats a good band, and almost
always is open somewhere, even in low sunspot times.
I have a few rigs. I use a icom 706mk2g quite a bit
for all bands. And also have a TS-830 I use quite a
bit. Still have a set of drake twins, "4 line", and
also a 2c and 2cq , but pretty much have retired the
drakes.. Only have one key...A bencher paddle I've
used since the middle 80's, and also a homebrew keyer
from the same time. Still works 20 years later...
Of course, the keyer is built in on the 706, so only
need the paddle for it.
I also work some SSTV, PSK, etc at times. Usually 20m.
I like to run mobile, and never take any long trip
without the radio. Work all bands mobile, 80m- 70cm.
I have a clip on wire for 160m, but only when parked..
As far as detector, I'm using a ace 250. I'm in Houston.
