Here we go.. a new detector from Whites for a retail price of 699$.
Now we ask for more features and performance than the DFX or MXT has for a lower price. I called Whites today and asked questions about it.
Q: How is the performance compared to the MXT ?
A: About the same, but no mode switch or threshold control, because
it is silent.
Q: What does is have what the MXT does not ?
A: Silent threshold and Tone ID and a lower price.
My thoughts about these answers:
No MXT Relic Mode, No MXT Prospecting Mode but a disc control to turn it to 0 disc and i can do some relic hunting too.
If you are not into prospecting and do relic huntig just once in a while this could be the detector for you.
Yes.....Tone ID and silent threshold. That is what the coin and jewelry hunter asked for.
Sure the MXT should be better for prospecting and relics because it has modes designed for it. That is what you can expect for 100 $ more.
I wish too Whites would put that silent coin mode in the MXT. And dual frequency, a backlight and Tone ID would be nice too.
But then it would cost more than an MXT and be the new top of the line detector from Whites. Yes i would pay 1000 $ for a detector like that.
But some guys just want to coin/jewelry hunt and don't have 1000 bucks to spend. The new Whites M6 may fit their needs for a 560$ streetprice.
And now the question is: If somebody wants a nice coin /jewelry detector is he buying the Whites M6 for a streetprice of 560 $ or the Minelab XTerra for 598$ ?
The Whites has better Target ID resolution, more tones and automatic ground tracking for a lower price. And if performance is equal to the MXT it does not have to hide.
I don`t want to hype a detector that was not even in my hands, but for that price it sounds promising.
