New video: Mono Coiled GPX 5000 vs Garrett ATX's DD on 4 Gold Nuggets

El,

I am going to take a guess in the dark and say the team with the most points.

I also suspect that Steve will be fed up with my answer on this issue also.

Reg

Steve,

I am trying to figure out your agenda. You have attacked Bearkat for providing videos that are informative and in none of them has he indicated he is trying to sell anything.

As someone who wrote field tests for years, I feel I am more than qualified in evaluating what is biased and what is not and I see no bias on his part. I can't say the same for you.

I will not only stand on what I have said and also I have yet to see any information that says specifically you will or can miss nuggets and certain sizes will be ignored.

Again, what is your agenda, protecting Minelab at all costs?

Oh yeah, you are not the only one fed up.

Reg

I can't help it if you ignore the information I provide. I have no agenda, I am just speaking my mind as a prospector. I actually do care about my reputation for providing honest information to prospectors and your agenda is clear. Discredit Minelab at all costs when the fact is Reg that is what the successful prospectors use. And I do not count you remotely among our ranks. Go ahead and keep beating your little anti-Minelab drum all you want, it will not change what people who know what they are doing are using one iota. I don't care for one second what you used to do all I care about is what you can show me for success in the here and now as a prospector. Those are the people I will pay attention to, not you. People like Jonathan have forgot more about prospecting for gold with a metal detector than you will ever know.

Wow, just spent a long time reading these 5 pages to get caught up and what a road trip this has been. Reg - Bearkat, I commend you both highly in being dignified in your responses to the Tag Team (Round - 5 (page count on this thread)). I'm not so.

As for myself, I'm a bit annoyed of all the "Deflecting", "Diverting", "Side Tracking", "Bum Steering" and "Personal Attacks" going on here to avoid answering the "pointed" questions laid out for them to answer (which still haven't been answered).

Bottom Line - In A Nut Shell (and not so dignified). The 5000 got it's @$$ handed to it not by 1 Garrett Machine but 2 Garrett Machines. I have never seen so much "Dinking" around with knobs, buttons and switches just to please you MineLabers in BearKats last video (as stated, BK not using the right settings), And That Still Didn't Satisfy You People.

So you Hard Core Minelaber's can chew on that for awhile, wow, what a trip this is. If I didn't know any better with such "TOTAL DENIAL" on all fronts by the Minelab owners about the 5000 that someone wasn't getting a "Kick Back" here.

Great job BearKat and I really hope you continue making the ATX videos.

REG - I have learned a lot from your posts here, and I hope you continue to give your "unbiased", and "dignified" responses if the occasion so arises (and from the looks of it, I'm sure it will).

I gave myself another headache reading all this, hehe :), so I'm going to take a couple of aspirins and my Prune Juice and get some rest, I'll come back later to see if the Tag Team will go into round - 6 (Page Count).

Unbelievable.

Quote " Discredit Minelab at all costs when the fact is Reg that is what the successful prospectors use."

Since ML has not had any serious competition there has not been any choice for successful prospectors and I am not saying there is now, but I would like to see a detector mfg. come out with something to at least equal ML. IMO they are over priced and only because they don't have any serious competition.

I absolutely agree! Why does anyone think I have been supporting the Infinium, TDI, and now ATX all these years? Anyone that does not believe that just needs to Google away to get the facts. I helped Garrett with the Infinium prototype and White's with the TDI prototype. I have put as much heat under Minelab if not more than the others over the years. I want competition to the max. But wishing the ATX will unseat the GPX will not make it so and blowing smoke up people's posteriors that it is so will not work in the end. That is why I have no problem being where I am on this issue as I know how it will play out.

Since I do not own and have not used a ATX I can't comment on it relative to the 5000, but I don't intend to sell my ML

Yup I'm out of here, when the show moves from the discussion of metal detectors and goes to people comparisons instead I lose interest.:starwars: Use whatever floats your boat, this was never about defending Minelab at all costs and I take exception to being accused of that. Every time there is a discussion about brands and someone tries to paint something up to be more than it is their fall back position is to always accuse people who point out those discrepancies of bias!!! I think back on all the chats I had with Chris Ralph and Steve Herschbach around my camp fire in Australia and not once did our discussions revert to these levels and I can assure you at times both guys in their passion for the hobby were hammering me pretty hard because we come from completely different environments.:surrender: I can show you places here in Australia where the ATX would find good gold and so would any decently sensitive VLF machine, indeed Chris, myself and Steve did just that on a number of occasions when we spent time together and I can assure you I learned from it.

Being accused of bias when I know in my own heart I am totally open to anything when it comes to the detection of gold is offensive to me, because my passion is 'about and for' metal detection not Minelab!! It just so happens that for the past 20 years Minelab have fuelled my passion so as a consequence I'm passionate about what the Minelab product can do for me in my search for gold!!:detecting:

Hi JP

You have ignored my 2 questions, so I am asking you again and put it to you differently.

How do you know, or where was it tested and documented, that the ATX will not NOT perform in HEAVILY MINERALISED HOT ground? Just because BK's test video was not made in hot enough ground by your description, it doesn't mean it won't handle your description of hot ground at all. It just has not been tested (to my knowledge), but it was condemned by you already. On what knowledge basis, I ask? Perhaps there was such test conducted and I missed it. In that case I apologize and please point me to it. Looking forward to your answer. Thank you.

Jerry

PS For clarity, my questions are based on your post and these 2 statements:

Amen to that. My intent was to just walk away and leave this behind. But when somebody tries repeatedly to paint me with the fanboy paintbrush at some point they better expect a poke in the nose back. I have plenty of history showing that not to be the case in my instance. The real irony here is that I am being accused as a Minelab defender at the same time the folks at Minelab have to be wondering why I am touting the ATX. As if I am not wishing somebody, anybody would not come out with a GPX killer for $1000! To this day I do not understand why the US manufacturers let Minelab run away with what has proven to be a huge market worldwide. I know I and others have tried to get more action out of all of them for years.

Sorry JP, but I am patriotic enough to wish we could kick some Aussie behind in that regard.

I am a firm believer the ATX is a good detector perfectly capable of standing on its own merits without the horse and pony show. What the GPX will do or not do is beside the point. The only thing that matters is what can the a ATX do? I did my part right off the bat going out and finding gold nuggets and a diamond ring and even some old coins. I can and will continue to show what the detector is capable of, and I do not need to try and trash other detectors in the process. I could pull stupid nonsense like saying I found more gold in two days than two guys who had Minelabs with my ATX on my own. Which I did. But what of it? Did that prove the ATX is better than the GPX? No, it proves I can run an ATX and find gold, plus maybe I got a tad lucky that day. Give the machine to a capable operator, it can find gold.

I would like to see more if that and less squabbling over this versus that. Show me the gold!

I admire a person who can take the high road when the discussion resorts to "personal jabs" just by trying to present a product for us to see that we maybe be interested in.

None of this started until BearKat brought out the 5000 to use as a benchmark comparison. Not once (to this date) did BearKat "ever" direct his comments to any one person in a negative way but kept the comments directed to the machines he was comparing in a light hearted and fun way. You MineLab owners are the ones who jumped his bones and took it down the "Nasty Road" (you didn't have to, but you did) and started this whole negative process and then using "Fine Elegant" wording to "Divert" that fact onto to Bearkat and making him look like he was the instigator.

One of the things in my life I was trained to do, and that's to observe, look at the facts, then draw my conclusion. It's just shameful to see such popular pillars of the community resort to such "Bar Room" tactics (in an elegant way of course) just to get BearKat discouraged enough to stop doing these ATX/5000 comparisons and I hope he doesn't "Buy Into It".

BearKat, your a good hearted, good natured person with a sense of humor and I like that. We all have our moments (myself included) and I really hope you continue with the ATX/5000 comparisons in your videos. You took the reins and made some great videos that we were looking for so long to see and I thank you for that. :)
