Just get one from city hall , just kiding.

Problem: You said there was no GB reaction and the Threshold didn't change when the GB was adjusted.

Suggestion: I suggested you check the basic function of the GB control by holding the coil in the air, select the All Metal mode, set the Threshold for a slight hum, then make the

Gunnar,
Yeh, I'm sure there are a lot of Bead Heads at City Hall! LOL

Monte,
Thanks again for your response, going outside now to try.

For decades I have relied on typical 'asphalt' to help set the GB on many preset models as it seems to be very close for the area it is located. With 1

I live in your area knightsquad, and I can tell you the ground balance knob is almost useless around here. The soil is so low in mineralization I seldom use mine to any effect.

Clad,
Thanks for that info. Yeah I thought so as this knob most times seems pretty neutral.
Where you at? I'm in Sebastian.
Maybe we can hook up sometime and go do some coin shooting!
Pete

Monte, if I interpreted your meaning correctly, saying "Make sure the Discriminate knob is clicked into the All Metal mode at full clockwise rotation." is incorrect as the All Metal Mode is accessed by turning the Disc knob fully counterclockwise . I am a Tesoro Vaquero owner and use this mode quite often. You would not be the first nor the last to switch this around. BTW, I enjoy your detailed answers to forum posts. I learn quite a bit by reading them. Keep up the good work.

If you get around marshy areas that are around brackess or salt water rivers the opposite could happen. You will not even be able to get a good balance at all. o_O

In my post I stated the following:

Question: Are you familiar with manually Ground Balancing a detector, or is this your first time at it? Remember, the Vaquero is a silent-search Discriminate type detector and must be in the clicked All Metal mode to hear the Threshold hum an to do a typical Ground Balance.

Make sure the Discriminate knob is clicked into the All Metal mode at
full clockwise rotation.

Maybe that's a problem from using too many makes and models; being tired; and not proof-reading to catch what I should have known better.

You are correct, it is a COUNTER-CLOCKWISE turn to click the Vaquero into the Threshold-based All Metal mode.

Pardon my Ooops.
