New toy?

I see it has a 3 year limited warranty. Nice to have a 3 year warranty but Wonder what its limited to.

It looks to me by the picture posted above that the units on the shelf are different than the image on the box. They look to have a screen that flips back onto the "S" rod.

That's the battery compartment door.

They will also have a master reset feature. We've received numerous MX5's back from customers AND DEALERS alike that say they are new defectives and just going crazy. We ask did you turn the sensitivity down? The answer is always "Yes but there was no change" however when the unit comes in the Sensitivity is cranked all the way up. It was simply set too high. Once we backed it off the unit runs like a dream - haven't had an actual "bad/defective" one yet. So I think a master/factory reset is a very much needed feature, especially for beginners that seem to want to press and adjust every button and setting. lol.

The Sensitivity Control is the hardest control for folks to learn to use.

Anyone who's been detecting long enough should know you can't always crank up the sensitivity. Every detector ever made has a page in its manual that says if the machine runs unstable back off the sens. Till it runs smooth. I think some people think if the machines max. Sens. Is say 10 that the machine must run stable. We all know that 95% of the time we can't run max. Sens. I have an MX5 and so far it's one of the best all-around machines I have ever had but I do have much more hunting to do with it as well .

If I was asked about an entry level machine I would recomend the M6 Ive tried Everything from AT Pro down. Nothing compares.tincan
