New to Detecting questions

Offer him half of what he's asking and never go over 3/4 what he's asking. You could get home and it not work and there would be nothing you could do. I don't ever buy used electronics unless it's vintage and repairable which most old stuff is before microprocessor tech. I have been doing car audio for over 18 years and digger is right, salt water is the worst. I hate low balling but if they are not being 100% honest it's the way to go. Also have someone go with you or let other people know.

Okay, so I met with the seller today. I asked him about his beach work and asked him if he experimented with it in the water and he did not. Remember we are in N. Cal. where the water is about 60 degrees so I believed him. brrrr. So to cut to chase, I bought it at a steal of a price, he mentioned if I did not buy it he was going to bring it to a pawn shop. So we were both satisfied on the price. Looking at it more closely the majority of the scratches were on the rod (?), he said he kept it in backpack so I can see how they happened. All my checks of the functions worked out fine.

Of course I had to give it shot in AM mode and got 2 quarters, a dime and 4 pennies!!! I think I'm hooked....:detecting: I can't even tell you how long I was doing it, I had a blast.

Now to hone up on Randy's e-book and looking forward to making this forum my home.

Congratulations....... I really love my 705 and i think you'll be extremely satisfied with yours.... I've read digger (Randy's) book twice now and the information that is in that book would have taken me years to figure out I also read the original owners manual a few times (I am also new to this hobby) but in the last week my confidence level has gone way up as i am understanding the signals better now and what they mean.

Hi Arcturus,

I now have a total of six MD's, two Minelabs XT-70 and the 705(they work great) and others.

Five of those six were bought used.

The only MD I have had any real problems with was the one I bought NEW..(Not a Minelab)

Check my posts to see which brand that was.

Seeing and checking the used MD in person is a great advantage, next best thing would be buying a used one thru Findmall classifieds.

The X-Terra's are great machines, I think you will be very happy with your choice and saving money is extra icing on the cake.

Good Hunting

Denny
