New Tesoro-What Do You Expect?

On the same topic of new models....... i would love to see tesoro build a kick but pinpointer cross between the garrett and the detector pro , i know they could do it

tone ID ,without the overload, I like to keep my coil close to the ground. I like the tesoro dial discrimination as opposed to block discrim, its so precise. 4 tone like on the Golden is fun,as is the notch discrimiation. Dont need a screen, just tones, and a good informative tone system. Ground balance that covers disc mode
By the way , my thanks to Reid and Randy for the work done on my golden, it got back fast, I wasnt expecting it to arrive back until after christmas

How many tabs do you dig in a years time?

Quite a few, but I also found 2 gold rings, 1 silver and a junk ring since September (when I got my Vaquero). The best gold ring was found with the Compadre, without disc'ing out pulltabs.

When I had machines with screens my ring count was 0, and my pulltab count was pretty much 0 too. I even got so lazy as to leaving the zincs in the ground. Really, if all I wanted was clad, it was doing it right.

There are some places that I hunt that I just can't bring myself to dig those tabs. One park I use to hunt on my lunch break had a concession stand that you could drop a dinner plate anywhere on the ground and there would be at least 12 or more tabs under it. LOL I just couldn't bring myself to dig a pocket full of those on my lunch break hunt.

Im hoping for a Vaquero with a toggle switch to quickly go back and forth between all metal and disc and also not have to reset the threshold when changing. That would be perfection. I dont need any stinking tones.

I would rather have a detector with more options than less. That way If I just did not feel like digging any pull tabs, or at a site where there is a high likelihood of pull taps and a low likelihood of rings, I could custom my hunt for the site, or the way I felt like hunting.

I agree an all metal/disc toggle on the vaquero would be a good idea and expanding the range on the vaqueros disc to match the compadre would be good also. I do like tones and a meter though so those two I would like to see. And make the numbers on the meter on the large side, my eyesight isnt getting any better. Remove the speaker on the vaquero and put a larger 0-180 meter representing the full disc scale. That internal speaker is useless to me as I always use headphones. Also have the meter read in both all metal and disc and keep it simple, just numbers. No depth id, no battery monitor, just the disc number reading.

I do not think there will ever be a detector that will please everyone. I do not have a problem, overlooking a feature that is not custom designed for my hunting style. The more options the better IMO, I refuse to be limited, or forced to have multiple detectors to get the features I want.

It may have already been said, but a Waterproof VLF. I still can't believe the major manufactures haven't came out with an ATpro type machine in the same price range.

No one has talked about POWER so I will. I believe there is a relationship between power and depth and so when I compare detectors they have to have the same battery power. I am in the trades and you would never compare a 9 volt Drill and a 18 or 20 volt Drill yet this is done all the time with detectors for depth.
My vote is for a Tesoro with a new high tech rechargeable battery pack with the matching high tech electronics.
My old digital camera was a battery pig and it seems that so are some of the Tesoro's are too.
When I bought a new camera a few years latter I remember using it for a full week with no charges and over 700 pictures WOW I could hardly believe that the propitiatory battery was a quarter of the size.
One of the reasons that I choose Tesoro was for its 9 volt drop in power line of detectors so for me the revamp should be on there big power sucking detectors which would be all the AA battery hogs.
May Tesoro literally Charge into the future!

My compadre has one 9 volt battery and last for gobs of hours... KEN

How true and its amazing isnt it that the rest havent either followed what garrett did or did it before them. Most of us only wade so a mere 10ft of waterproof is more than sufficient.

I agree. Even if Tesoro contracted with Ikelite to build a custom box to house a Compadre that would be fine. I know it takes years to develop a new machine and get it to market. I think Garrett was taking all the profits years ago from the Ace series and shoving it to R&D. Now it's possible the competition is years behind? It has to be something? If there was more competition in that segment we as consumers and users would be reaping the rewards.......

My Deleon uses AA batteries and it's not a battery hog?

Thanks for pointing that out so I am glad to here that Deleon is not a battery hog I guess I was thinking more of the water machines Sand Shark and Tiger Shark and maybe power hog is to strong wording but I would like to see a reworking of these detectors with a factory rechargeable system.
