New multi frequency machine

This one could be my first Nokta Makro, but I’m going to try hard to avoid getting one before the user reports start coming in. Especially if it’s priced above $700 which it likely will. I’d liquidate at least one of my 5 machines cause I’m kind of maxed out and can’t easily justify another purchase otherwise. There will almost certainly be a sizable pre order backlog on this new one

I'm hoping the price will be between $600-$700. If anyone can get it done for that price, I believe Nokta/ Makro can.

i kind of doubt it will be that low. The Simplex +is a terrific detectors, very low priced, and yet waterproof and able to fill that need for avid Beach Hunters. If priced too low it would greatly cut in on their own Multi-Kruzer and Anfibio Multi. Plus it will be their first SMF model AND from what Dilek has mentioned, it will be bringing some new features to the upper-end market. Having user-replaceable batteries is a really desired new feature, too. My guess is it will be in the $950 to $1200 range and, with added features and enhanced design, be well worth it.

If priced too low, they would have to drastically reduce the price of their current upper-end models, and perhaps drop some of their lower-cost models that are not currently waterproof.

$859 might be the magic number then. We should know between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

At first thought I was planning to hold off on getting this new machine until user reports give it a thumbs up. Now if the features look appealing and if it is priced anything below the Nox 800, and in large part because of the reputation N/M has built up, I’m going to hop onto the preorder list as early as possible. I have some time to pay down my “ detector account” and not have to sell anything in my current lineup-all of which I like

Although it’s likely to come with a 11” stock coil, it would be nice if other existing N/M coils could be compatible with the new detector, so that there would be a smaller round or elliptical option immediately.

I like hearing talk about smaller-size and mid-size coils instead of all the big-coil discussions in recent years.

I'd like to see three (3) search cils:

• A round 5" DD for the very densely littered sites.

• A round 7" Concentric like they have made for the Racers, Impact an other models as it is a very versatile mid-size coil.

• A nice open-frame 5X9½ DD like I have for my Simplex + or FORS Relic as it makes another very useful mid-size coil offering.

I very seldom make use of a coil larger than small or mid-size, as those are what have and use that work for me.

Unless they offer a two coil package ( or three like the Vanquish 540 pro pack) which is unlikely as it would be too expensive, I’d expect an 11” stock and accessory coil options.I’d rather see an 11”x 8” elliptical as stock, or a 9” round which many get on the Deus. 10” x 5” elliptical doesn’t work well as standard stock size IMO. Personally I hate the idea of switching coils, except with the Deus that is, but no one coil can do it all or get the most out of a detector.

Everyone wants and needs a smaller coil or two or three in their arsenal, but a good 11" or 12" is a must as well for most of us. Many of us know that good target separation can be available in a 11" size and thus continue to have the important good depth. I feel any flagship or top of the line detector should have at least 3 coil sizes available and two of them being, a 11"/12" and 5". HH Jim tn

Really depends on where and what you hunt. I'd be satisfied with the 8" or 9" round DD as the standard coil for the new machine. Personally I don't need a huge coil in my arsenal. One other smaller coil like the minelab equinox 6", and I'm good to go. Again it depends where and what you hunt.

Would everyone ridicule me if I thought the kruzer style s-rod should be an option? Maybe molded polymer instead of aluminum and use lever locks instead of detents and twist locks? For getting in high grass and thick brush, or around rocks, the kruzer was a tank and pretty light. Man that thing could row your boat or be a crutch in the event of an accident.

The Déus & ORX can do quite well with a round 9" DD. I've had that coil, but I prefer the elliptical DD that's a 5X9½ (CM to Inches would be 5.12X9.45 so I'll just round that off to 5X9½). It's what I consider a 'mid-size' coil while a round 9" or 11" falls into my larger-coil category.

On the Simplex + I would have liked a round 7" Concentric coil, like they make for other models, but sadly they limited their coil offerings for the Simplex +. I got to try both the round 8" DD and elliptical 5X9½ DD and, by far, the 5X9½ was more comfortable. and just a slight loss of depth, but overall impressive performance. The 5X9½ is what I ordered and use exclusively on my Simplex +. The rod-mount point is also better on the 5X9½ as it is closer to center. I didn't like the 8" because it was quite heavy, compared to their other coil fferings, and has a rod-mount that is too far toward the rear of the coil and that makes it balance poorly and it gets easily bumped / knocked out-of-alignment to maintain a flat, horizontal orientation to the ground.

I spend most of my hunt time in very debris-filled sites so th closer masking trash hampers trying to achieve any 'extra' depth, and most coins, tokens and desired targets are in the surface to 4" range with 5" to 8" or slightly deeper being achievable a smaller percentage of the time, so I am not a big 'depth' demander out of a detector and coil. I had 3 ORX devices w/9" and 5X9½ and got excellent performance out of the elliptical coil for desired target responses on 'deeper' keepers. I also enjoyed very functional deeper-coin performance with Vanquish 540 w/5X8 DD, my Apex w/5X8 DD, and a 5X9½ on the Racer 2, Impact, Multi-Kruzer, Anfibio Multi as well as my FORS Relic and Simplex +

I won't 'ridicule' you, but I preferred th 'S' rod package with the Racer 2 over the heavier-feeling Multi-Kruzer. I used the Racer 2 a lot, and have used many 'S' rod detectors through the years, along with my current two favorite Tesoro model and three Apex devices with different search coils. I like the Racer 2 w/5" DD and 7" round Concentric, but not with any of the other-size coils. The Multi-Kruzer, when tried side-by-side with a Racer 2 and same-size coil, felt heavier and 'less friendly' to me and two hunting buddies when we did some comparisons.

I prefer my Simplex + w/5X9½ to the Racer 2 w/5X9½ and let my last one go. My balance and mobility are very impaired and I've been using a cane since March of '93. I do my best to not rely on a detector to serve as a cane / support .... but have on a few occasions just a little. Some makes & models felt / feel more rugged or durable and can be a little more stabilizing at times .... if absolutely necessary.

On a new SMF I would be fine with a round 11" DD as standard, but want a 5" and 5X9½ DD plus a round 7" Concentric to be available as accessory coils.

Monte in fairness to the weight comparisons of the Racer 2 and Multi Kruzer, the Kruzer is waterproof where the Racer is not. I loved my Multi Kruzer. It would find the goodies in trash and I usually hunted with the 5x9.5. That said, I sold it this week to my cousin to get ready for the SMF detector from Nokta.

I still have three other detectors so I won't be hurting for something to hunt with. He lives in Louisiana and has unreal hunting sites available to him. When visiting him a few weeks ago, I let him use the Multi Kruzer and he was loving it. So I'm headed to Louisiana this weekend to show him how to get the most benefit from the detector for different applications. Really looking forward to the new SMF. Nokta detectors are built like a tank compared to other brands. Especially Minelab.
