New here :)

I would definitely go with the pro, I have a M6 and love the tones. A pro may very well be in my future, I would have bought one last year when I purchased the M6 but I wanted the tones. The Mxt pro now has the tones, back light and a "ground grab" that sounds interesting, I'm not sure if they updated the hardware but from what I've read on it the hardware is already about as good as it gets.

well i think you folks have almost got me talked into a pro but man that v3i sure looks great especialy with the color displays showing the scales etc etc :)

Hi Dave and Welcome too the Faimly, If you have a Question post it hear, On the V3i wen you get it, If you want too know what a fetcher dos wen you have that Fetcher highlighted,
Just hold down Menu and press Zoom and the screen will show what thet fetcher dose, It can be as simple as you make it, See the V3i has a simplified Manual built in
the Computer, Short cut if you want the Back Light to come on wen the V is turned on and the Backlight is not just Hold down the on / off button for 3 Seconds, But this Hobby is about having Funn so dont Worry about the other guy / Gal , Mickfin over N out,

LOL i find my selff looking at all kinds of places one might hunt for coins and such all the time now !!!!!!

Driving me crazy i so want to start learning this great hobby:)

Welcome Dave!
You will need to read the manual on the V3i and watch the videos. Also read this forum as much as possible. There is lots of good members and advice. I have found that people go the extra mile on here to help. I was going to name off a few of the good ones on here but there are too many to choose from. Just watch Rob..hes the evil one! LOL just kidding

If you ever get back to Indiana to visit, just look me up and we can get together and hunt and if you need help still...I would be glad to show you. Just like others have said, dont get overwhelmed with the V3i, take it slow and learn the basics first. Since you like computers...The V3i is kinda like learning DOS...just gotta take your time and learn.

Hello Wolfbane,
Welcome, you've come to the right forum for helpful people and good advice. My personal recommendation would be to start with an MXT for the reasons already mentioned. Looks like you have a choice to make. Whichever White's machine you choose, you have experts here on all of them who are more than willing to share their expertise. If you end up deciding to go with the DFX I have one in great condition with extras (extra coil, headphones, manual, etc.) that I'm thinking of listing on the classifieds here soon. My e-mail is sfoss52@yahoo.com Let me know if you're interested and in any case, good luck.
