new Golden umax question

I get double blips on "ALL 4" disc. tones (air test)....on other units I usually get one solid single blip on the various items in disc. Can
anyone tell me if this is normal for this sensitive unit, which I
can easily get used to....thank you

Hi Matt, the Golden I have doesn't do the double blip unless the target is elongated like a big nail. Are you sure your not hearing the overload blips when the target is very large or you get to close to it.? I have the 5.75 coil on mine and it definitely lets you know if it is trash when it gives very fast multiple blips. I love the golden and it will get depth if your soil is not too hot. I love the tones and it is so light. The 9x8 coil will definitely get you down in the dirt looking for deep targets! I hope you enjoy your Golden as much as I do. God Bless Matt.

Hi Matt,

I have the Golden. My favorite fun machine. Air testing is going to be different in the ground. Closer to the coil you will hear the target as it crosses both sides of the receive field. As you move the target out further away from the coil you will find a point where it only gives one response.

Now in the ground, the ground will focus the coil so that you typically do not get the double response. Only the surface targets will tend to do this, IF they do not cause the overload response.

You got a great little machine there.

For relic hunting, how does the Golden uMax compare to Silver uMax or Cibola? Is it as stable?........Thanks....
