New Girl Needs Help!!!!!

No problem. I would have hate to see you use it in the wrong text while out detecting in the country somewhere. Alot of the old basements and farm houses our owned by rednecks. And they more than likely would not have let you come back to hunt if they herd them refered to as low lifes. And I do agree TV has given rednecks bad name. The inner city holds good people too. I didn't grow up their but I worked their long enough. My first impression of the hood was the movie Colors.
Take care and if offered,
take small sips of moonshine not gulps.

I used to do a lot of night hunting when I first started detecting. I had the same situation, working all the time and no daylight left when I got off. Night hunting can be very "dangerous", especially for a single female. I've had some really scary moments, run in's with Drunks and Dope addicts asking for money and one time trying to rob me, Drug Dealers carrying guns and knives wanting to know what you're doing on their turf. One of the Scariest moments was when I was being stalked by a pack of Wild Dogs and barely made it to my vehicle in time. If you decide to night hunt, at least try to hunt with a hunting partner, or in someone's yard that you know.
Hope this helps and please be careful!!

I once approached a young lady who was metal detecting in a park. She had a Terrier Mix teathered to her belt. As I was approaching from about 50 yards, the Dog started barking and she became aware of my presence.

Watch Dogs are wonderful.

Myself, I just bring along my two friends: Smith and Wesson.
