New CZ-3D user..

Bob,
He may have his sens turned down. I've air tested mine to 3", so I'm sure of what I've seen it do. He also may not have had to locate one any deeper than an inch away.

You could have a valid point there Dave.. He was doing a few other things a little wild.. I actually would be afraid to see him with a weed eater.. lol..

Well.. I placed an order via the telephone this morning for a Sunray for my CZ-3D.

I find I am burning a lot of time and energy, and having to make larger digs than I like, so I am going to see how this works! I hope it will put a big smile on my face too!

On Monday I made a phone call to Sunray, and ordered a probe for my CZ-3D. A friendly voice on the phone checked stock and said it was as good as on its way! At lunch today I came home and checked the mail, and here it was! Speedy delivery and nicely packaged.

I installed it after work tonight. Between a quick read of the enclosed directions and the actual installation, it took about five minutes until I was out in the yard checking it out!

I went into an area that I haven't gone through yet, and began finding coins. After pinpointing with my coil, I found that if they were only a couple of inches down, i could easily pinpoint them with the probe and surgically remove them without hardly disturbing the sod! On the deeper ones, once i removed a plug it put me several inches into the soil and it would pick right up on it!

I can see where it could be a great selling point on getting into some yards with an owner that's a bit reluctant because of concerns for the lawn.

I have only made about a dozen digs with it, but I can tell you that it's made a positive impression on me. I am going to do some beach hunting on Saturday, and I am excited to see how much easier it makes it!

More info when I have more time under my belt with it...

I've got to spend some time with the new probe now. It's certainly made an impression on me. I don't believe that I would want to work without it!

The pros: It really makes recovery quicker by making it so much easier to find the target. I pinpoint the best I can with my coil, then check it with the probe. If it's shallow enough for it to pick up, I can dial right in on it. If not, I make my plug, and then the probe earns its keep, making it super easy to pick out.

The cons: It made my machine heavier. I am not complaining, because I knew that I would be adding that weight.

Weighing it out, I don't believe you'll find an easier way to speed up your recovery. Speeding up your recovery makes the entire hobby more enjoyable, and that's why we do it!
