I have had it, The charger doesn't work, I can't down load the disk on my apple PC,and no owners manual. I have to go into the bed room next to
the bed room where my wife is sleeping to look at the manual. She keeps yelling, what are those beeping noises? I need a operators manual, I do all my learning in the bath room. I cant take it, I don't think my MD dealer is going to be happy to see me today. He getting back the Pro swing also. That is the most uncomfortable thing I ever had on. Have a merry Christmas boys and girl's, sorry to bother you all with my problems, see you on the E-track site LOL

I imagine you weren't completely sold on the product in the first place if you admit defeat so quickly. I would think your dealer would be able to swap out a battery and a charger for you. As far as the software it says all over their website that it is for PC not Mac, and the manual is available right on their site http://ctx3030.com/brochure/

Anyhow, we all know the E-trac is a good machine and I am sure you will be able to find a lot of treasure with it.

It sounds like you just want an excuse to stick with your E-Trac, but that is OK, the CTX is NOT for everyone. Your problems seem to be pretty simple to fix, your dealer could replace the charger/battery and print your owners manual for you. If noise bothers your wife, don't mess with the computer while she is sleeping, turn the volume down or use headphones...........

In the end you need to be happy with such a purchase. We are all different and I respect your opinion and experience, but I am also a Mac user and had the same issues, also own the Pro Swing and I for one I am quite happy with my CTX. I bought the Pro Swing after having bought the 17x13 coil as I was ok with the 10" coil. I am fortunate to have a PC at work so using the xchange software was not too tough. Also while I really like the Xchange software, once you have your programs tweaked you will rarely use it. In my case having many different machines I acually prefer the manuals in .pdf form as I save them to my Iphone and Ipad and always have them at hand.

sorry it did not work out for you. good luck with your next machine.

I think we all agree that when a person buys a 'top of the line' device we should have few issues with it, and minor issues do effect how we feel about the product. I also firmly believe that a person who buys a CTX should do their research first, then buy or not buy. It is not a 'simple' machine that detects metal, it is complex. Complex devices have 'issues'. But, last and most important, the CTX is a great metal detecting machine! So, the less people using CTX's the better IMHO. More stuff for me to dig.

I had the same proublem, I mean with the wife yelling.

I sent her back to the manufacturer (her mother)

Proublem solved!

But if you go that route don't expect your money back!......

Bad Bad Coon Dog.....

Last time I checked ....the etrac goes "beep beep beep" as well.....but I could be wrong.

don't get too frustrated right away your dealer should be able to help you out as far as the manual you can get it from the minelab site , or as one of the other mac users suggested you can do what he did which would allow you to download the manual I have had the v3i and the e-trac which I found to be harder to use than the ctx you just need to have patience and learn the machine and you will soon learn that it is a great machine gl and hh

Hey Jersey Jim - shoot me yer email address and I will send you the manual. And it shore would be helpful if you could post a photo of yor wife so we could see what all the commotion is about.

I use a mac, I have the manual saved right on my desktop. You can do an update with a mac, when there is one. The exchange program requires windows.

I've been known to research while on the chitter.

Good Luck

I've had every top of the line machine on the market, half of them went back with some kind of problem, kinda like new cars, there is bound to be a lemon in the group sooner or later. People make these machines and people make mistakes putting them together at the factory. If him or her inspector or tester would have been totally awake that day that $2500.00 machine would have left the factory working like a charm. you really can't blame the machine, it didn't make it's self. Check my past posts of the high dollar rings, many silver coins and rings I have found with the CTX. So my point being no matter what you by or how much it costs it can fail due to human error. My advice , get it fixed give it a chance and it will reward you.

Most of us had E-Tracs. I still have mine. The CTX is a much more complex machine but in time you would have found out why we have not gone back. Good luck and HH :minelab:

I downloaded the manual to a memory stick took it to the ups store and for 12.00 they made a nice book out of it with covers and a plastic spiral spine. I had mine done in black and white , they can do color but it adds to the cost.

Me too....thats the way to go. Although, a lot of the info is redundant especially if you were a etrac owner but its nice to have anyway.

I also have the minelab app on my phone and can look at the manual anytime I want even while out in the field this has come in real handy a few times .

I took mine to Office Max and wanted to have a few made up for me with the spiral binding and plastic covers and they said they can not print these as they are copyrighted and not legal to copy it, so mine is just a copy I got off the Minelab site before I got the CTX..
