Probably a dumb question, but will the new coils work on the Cortes?

Reany is right! But you have many options to fit the Cortez! I am a Coil Junky(Have 11" widescan,9X8,7" Concentric and CSC Want 10X12 & 4"), so You don`t need to follow my example.
A guy would be very well fixed with the stock 9X8 an 7" Concentric and CSC(Clean Sweep Coil).
The others may be excessive and have limited applications.
The 7" can be made to perform much like a 4" by lowering sensitivity and developing techniques that allow working close to fences and such.
The 10X12 is not needed unless you are hunting Very Deep or Large Targets.
