New AT Pro In Route

Thanks William.

With the discrimination set at '35' with the iron audio ON, do you hear the audio of iron targets that are below the discrimination point of '35" or just the ones above?

I can get that stuff figured out when the that slowpoke FedEx driver ever gets here.:)

OK it arrived. I did some testing out in the yard. So far, I like the 5 x 8 inch coil best. It seems to be almost as deep as the stock coil and is way more fun to use.:)

There are few that things that I dislike, but overall I think I'm going to really like this detector. I read the entire manual, now I'm genius.

I think I'll start off hunting in the morning in the Pro Zero Mode to see how it goes. :detecting:

Iron audio allows you to hear the iron that you have discriminated out that would normally be silent. Lets say if you run pro coin mode which has a iron disc of 35, you will not hear the iron that registers below that number. Turn on iron audio and you will hear all iron even though your still at a disc of 35. An old twist off bottle cap in this mode will sound like a sweet coin hit until you turn on iron audio, then you should be able to hear some slight iron grunts along with the good tone. Round circular items tend to ring up like coins no matter what kind of metal it is. I have dug flat rusty washers that rang up high due to their flat, round, coin like shape. Good luck on your hunt tomorrow....I`m gonna get out and hit it too! :goodnight:

I wish more people were able to utilize experience , and learned skills like Jim offered you...

Gerald will be fine with the A T. There are a few tic's, clicks and mixed tones that often are good targets, but mainly its just a matter of digging and tabman is a digger. We'll compare some targets and go from there. When are you going to get your A T, El? HH jim tn

That is a good question Jim........... Not sure when or if I will get an At Pro.. You have proven that in the right hands their awesome.... I prefer to operate one at a time rather than use several and not really
master or at least get good with the one I am using.. It makes me feel like I am always learning switching back and forth.

Your posts do make me tempted I " MUST" admit...... I want to clarify I have absolutely nothing against getting a Garrett At Pro.... Not right now would be my final answer..

There are a lot of really good hunters out there just like there are a lot of good detectors. Nor is any given detector always right for a person or for every hunting situation. I was fortunate, the A T Pro and I clicked almost from day one. And, if you don't realize it, you should. By hunting almost daily, a man swinging a broom out in front of him will from time to time find some treasure. Oh, and I wasn't trying to put you on the spot. HH jim tn

Would it be the coil and headphone connector hook up? I believe Garret built a great unit in the AT Pro but they could have done a lot better job on the connection points as big fingers have a lot of problems getting these on JMHO

Oh I know you were not trying to put me in a spot... We have spoken about it in private.. I'm just not ready to give up and move on from what I have..

I do admire your abilities, and wow that At pro is awesome as I stated..

Those coil and headphone connectors would make a preacher curse. There won't be any coil changes in the field, I can promise you that.:)

Well I sometimes change the coil but the headphones I don't because I use the adapter and it stays on all the time as I don't use the Garret HPs I use GG with the 1/4" plug so I can use any set of headphones I have I use a very Light weight set in summer and GG in Fall and winter

Where do you get a adapter for the 1/4 plug headphones and will the one that came with the detector come apart to work with a 1/4 plug

I ordered the coil for my ATP also it works great. I also ordered it with the protective covers for the big and small coils to protect it from rocks and sharp objects.

You can get one from anyone of the forum sponsors who sell Garrett Detectors. I got mine from Larry at NWI Detectors.
