New 9" round 3 khz coil

So how conductive is the soil I tested. Low, medium or high?

Your Magnetic number is slightly higher than smack in the middle of the medium range, and your Conductive is less than half of that, but still in the medium range.

Thanks for this answer and all the help you gave.

Terry

Now that you're establishing a baseline Terry, you can sort of do your own correlation between that and what you get with other coils. And with that information you can determine if one frequency might have an advantage over another at different sites, or you might better understand why the response with a chosen frequency might vary from site to site.

Ok, I can go for that. Already the 3 khz coil gave different #'s on a small plot I tested.

Exactly! And now you can experience the performance difference between the two coils at that site, which can help direct your frequency/coil selection at subsequent sites. Then you combine that with results of experimenting with Tracking Offset and you'll be on your way to developing a sense of how it can all be used to maximize your results.

To me, this sort of flexibility is what makes an Xterra such a powerful tool, and one that you can grow with. You can turn-on-and-go if you wish, but it can be more complicated and wonderful if you like.

Sounds good to me. Thank you sir.
