New 705 user

Haha...goggle translator did a good job! And yes your right, its amatuer archeology club.Joined it this year and had my oldest find the very same day I went there as new member. That was a bronze age fibula(dress pin),3000 years old...Denmark just have so much cool finds.

Like clad.I have permission on huge parks and beaches where me and my bro detect.Good practice it is.And great finds as well. But on that ground the Etrac and baby-SEF 6x8" is a winner. Will do a goldring pattern next time and only dig those signals.Guess Im gonna be busy digging
bottle caps:lol:

Take care and good luck in the park.

Mike

If not sure what to dig , why not dig a few numbers one day then go back and dig a few other numbers the next day. Then you wont get as fed up as quick , if you have a beach then try there . It is a very good coin hunter and i have found many silver rings with mine this year, no gold this year yet but 2 last year.
The numbers on the Terra are not as acurate as the ET/CTX at depth but the tones should be the same for the target whatever the depth.

EOS , the ET is as good as the CTX so unless you are needing it for wet days or just fancy a change and can afford it then i would not bother. I when on the beach find that i find as much or as little with the CTX as the ET and no more or less.
I think Minelab are going to bring out something else soon .

Hello all,

Just a quick post to share my good fortune,

While at a local flea market, I came across a X-Terra 705 in near pristine condition. I asked what they wanted for it and was quoted $400.00 after a couple of minutes he offered to let it go for $350.00.

What scared me away at first was the fact that he said that he took it in on trade that day and didn't know anything about it, (he was not a detector enthusiast, himself). I opted to walk away at that time as it was early in the day.

Only finding one other detector (I was looking for a backup detector), that I was not interested in, I decided towards the end of the day to see if he still had the 705. After finding him and seeing that the detector was still there and checking it out to be sure that it functioned, I asked what his bottom dollar would be and he said $300.00.

Being the thrifty one that I am and still being a little apprehensive about the machine (I've not used the 705 before) I asked if he would entertain the offer $275.00....well what do ya know, he said he had $250 in trade value in it so it was a profit for him and he accepted my offer.

I'm happy to say after getting the detector home and going through the manual and putting it through it's paces, it works great !!!!!

After researching what these sell for new, I was REALLY happy with the purchase and it is now a great backup to the explorer II that I have, so the minelab stable grows a bit.....

Just wanted to share real quick since it's been a while since I've had a detector in my hands or on the forum here.

Thanks,

Tim

Congrats on a great deal.

Thank-you to all for the encouraging words. Digger, asking my neighbors is brilliant, the thought never enter my mind obviously. Here is a question for ya! Will the beach hunting be a bit more exciting after this hurricane passes? How long shall I wait before I venture into the results of Sandy? Has anyone had post-hurricane finds that were unique or interesting?

Sandy is likely to turn up stuff that hasn't been seen for hundreds of years. I know several people who are already out there, waiting for the water level to go down so they can hunt. One guy drove over 1000 miles, arriving yesterday. Once they get access to the beach, this could be a "once in a lifetime" hunt. Best of luck to all who take on the challenge. HH Randy
