Never get old

Dancer

Well-known member
So this morning I suited up to go hunting. Slipped on my Black copper ankle elastic, also one for my knee, back belt, shoulder support,, wrist support and the copper gloves. Wife took a look at me and asked
Well who is the Black Knight going to fight today? A Dragon or you taking another shot at the White Knight? Funny girl ! $1.42. Had to quit early, forgot my neck brace.

I hear ya...I'm only 55 but my body has lived enough for 2 lifetimes of "normal" use... my saying is "each day is another". I'm like an old muscle car, still looks great on the outside, but the frame is rotting and the motor is knocking! HH

I know the feeling. I took my 54 inch deck off my tractor to sharpen the blades and hurt my thigh muscle and my right knee. I use to accomplish this job in an hour or so. It took me three hours and will not be able to detect for a month. Good luck and keep on pushing.

My Dad used say, “its better to live fast, die young, and thus be a good looking corpse.”

But I hear ya, older and slower and watch out if I catch ya..... lol

My "To Do" list grows daily. If it's critical I'll eventually get around to it. But heck, detecting the fields here is much more important. At age 84 I cherish every day. As Winston C. said "never, never, never give up". At least I think he said it. By the way, is today Monday or Tuesday? I don't guess it really matters. E-mailing Richard to trade detectors again. You guys and dolls have a GREAT day.

Yup... At almost 70, I still keep re-injuring the same lower back muscles that I injured about 25 years ago when removing a deep cycle battery out of a boat. Difference now is that it puts me out of service for a couple days instead of a couple hours. Arthritis in both thumbs also limits my detecting time, even though I can swing with both arms.

But I refuse to quit!

BCOT!

Wild Willy, your the Man ! Keep Plugging

I am not sure how it happened but the calendar says i was 80 in Jan. Went out to a local park yesterday that has always produced some clad. At one time it was not difficult at all to dig ten bucks but over the years it has become difficult to find much. I dont know how many times i knelt down and stood up during the four plus hours i spent there yesterday but today i am paying the piper. Sore is putting it mildly. All that for only $3.55 in clad. But i sure did enjoy my outing. Found far more dimes than anything else.

I'm with Wild Willy. I'll be 81 come May, and afraid to stop. I hunt every day M-F for 4 hours each day and lighten up a little on the weekends. Dug 140 coins plus some trash the last three outings total. Those numbers aren't typical in most of our parks, though. Gonna keep at it until I can't. After 48 years its still a great hobby. That's cool

I hear ALL you guys. When we’re young we do stuff that has a cumulative effect later on, beating ourselves silly doing heavy stuff we shouldn’t do. I’ve got a pinched nerve in my back right now which is causing some real issues in my left leg, and it’s all a result of just doing too much. Doctor says I “have not been kind to my back”. I agree. I just hope it gets resolved, it’s a real PITA right now. Being in your 70’s or 80’s and STILL swinging?....my hat is off to all of you, seriously.

I salute you gentlemen 80 years and up still at it swinging the coil. I'm 65 and it gets harder to hunt the older you get, especially those long hunts. Stay at it and as said, Don't give up. May we all continue to enjoy this great hobby as long as the Good Lord allows us to. :usaflag:

Yes, I didn't realize that I thought I was the OLE gal on here but many as old or older than me! Gosh I just got younger but still too ill from many diseases because my fleshly body couldn't take the abuse thal the hard work all my life caused BUT God could heal me to go detecting, although I believe He has me right where He wants me--Answering His calling for spreading Jesus' Gospel truth! Amen! Ma
