NEL tornado dd coil for X-terra series

Finder82

New member
European manufacturer is testing a NEL tornado 12x13" dd prototype coil for the X-terra series and it is believed to hit the market on March 2011.

At least i am very interested to buy one of these coils, if it really works and It was about time to have some aftermarket coils for the X-terra series, so stay tuned.

If this new coil will find deep gold,( deeper than the 10 1/2" DD) I would be very interested in buying one.

I think they will make these coils in various frequencies, but the initial prototype coil seems to be a 7,5 khz dd coil and estimated weight of these coils are around 1.3 lbs.

I wish I knew what he was saying on the video!
No signal with the Minelab 10" coil on a target near the end,
than a signal with the ?tornado 12x13" dd? jumping from +48 to -8. (No dig for me)
I don't get it.

Good Hunting

I dont know either what they are saying, but maybe the target is so deep that the ID numbers are not stable anymore.

I would have to see more about the coil in target depth and target ID on given targets. If they only make it in 7.5 khz and it works on the X-Terra models, then it would be worth buying if the price is not too high.

I did not find such videos in youtube, we will just have to wait and see, when they will make more videos about these X-terra coils.

They have already made some big and small coils for top end Minelab, Fisher, Garrett, Teknetics, soon for Tesoro, Whites and Xp.:smoke:

I wish that Minelab would make a coil like the size of the NEL coil and I would feel better buying one one from Minelab. At least I would have a warranty and I would know that it is going to work.

We all have wanted new X-terra coils from Minelab for a long time now, but it seems that our prayers are not answered and the NEL coils have 2 year warranty.

At least the build quality of these coils seems to be good enough:

Really interesting. What the company needs is a an English speaking website for Europe and the US.

Clive

What little i have heard, their customer service do understand English decent enough, so if you are really interested to buy one of these coils, they will ship it anywhere in the world.

At least Firefox can translate the website, so you can understand what is written just fine, but English website would not hurt.:smoke:

Does anyone have any information on cost and who to contact for sales?

PM send.:)

Thanks for posting the link Finder. It's good to see that there is some movement away from just the Minelab coils. Nothing wrong with what's there; it's just good to see variety. I'd love to see a 5x3 DD coil.

There are already a very nice looking NEL 9.5x5.5" Sharpshooter DD coil for Explorer, SE, XS, 2, E-Trac and Safari.

So who knows what they are cooking in their pot for X-terra series.:)

Thank you very much for making us aware about that!

1) Is NEL the same manufacturer as Detech SEF butterfly coils?

2) How do they get around(or duplicate) the special CHIP in the X-Terra coils (that has stopped others from making X-Terra coils in the past)?

I do NOT like the idea of a 12x13" DD size, NOT enough swath coverage. Only 2.5" more coverage than the existing 10.5" DD's. A 15" DD coverage would be an absolute minimum and acceptable(I have a CoilTek WOT 15" DD for my Musketeer Adv. and consider that a minimum for good slow walking pace coverage for larger territory) . I HAVE been preaching for very a long time here on this Forum to have a 10x18" DD size coil for the X-Terra's. That would give us 7.5" more coverage for larger homesteads, large farmers fields, and prospecting!

If you or anyone has their contact, get ahold of NEL in Europe and tell them to make a 10x18" DD, or even a 12x18" DD INSTEAD PLEASE!!

NEL is not the manufacturer of SEF coils and i really dont know how they made the coil work with X-terra, but it works and that is a great thing. I think it is called European technology, they have the know how.

There are already various bigger coil size requests from customers to the company, so maybe in due time they will produce bigger coils.

If you need the contact information, shoot me with a PM and i will tell you.
