HI Khouse.
The toggle is a pain and I have placed an elastic band around it and secured it to a metal ring that I set under the case bolt/screw closest to the switch, seems to work fine, at least until the elastic perishes.
The TID lights are not bright enough in bright sunshine but you still have the Tones to go by, although in All Metal the targets are detected deeper than than what the lights will respond to so you have to uncover the target a bit to get closer to get a positive TID. That is normal for most VLF TID machines with the exception of the Sov and similar machines which TID at good depth. I found these little details to be rather insignificant with the BHID because it operated so smooth and steady on the beach and is capable of very good depth in All Metal mode. Quite frankly I am very impressed with this machine.
There are better beach machines out there that will handle high black sand concentrations better, such as the Infinium.
I have no doubt that there will be some highly mineralised volcanic sand beaches that may challange this machine but as we all know, No one detector can do it all with equal efficiency.
Most of the items I found the other day were bottle caps and fish hooks but I did get a few coins at around the 6 to 8 inch mark that all TIDd correctly. These items were easily detected in the Disc mode and I like the way the Iron ID works; Every time that little red light lit up and the threshold dipped slightly in All Metal the target was ferrous.
As I said earlier, this one is a keeper.
