Kinda new to explorer is it normal for the xs to be slow on curser movement even after several passes over target with good sound. thanks bodark

its ok I think. on my xs is the same if sensitivity is high, but its not big deal you still can hear whats under coil.

Cursor movement slows with high sensitivity in trashy area... especially using much disc. Sometimes you can use this slow reaction as a way to adjust your sensitivity.... but you are more concerned about those tones. Once the tones are learned you wont be too concerned about the screen except on those deep targets where the bounce may help you with TID.

Yes, this is an idiosyncracie with the explorer. Other machines have a more instaneous needle/digital readout .... to the sound. But with the explorer, it's almost as if you have to pass the target, and wait a micro-second off to the side, for the cursor to decide where it will land on the up/down, left/right axis screen.
