I got it used from Alexander Enterprises in South Houston Texas and sent it back to them. They can be reached at this site Alexander Enterprises I sent it back today and they are not open today. If you are interested in it, I would contact them this Wednesday.

I could not figure out how to send a PM on this site.

As Dan mentioned sounds like you had a bad coil. I now remember back my wife's GTi1500 developed a bad coil. Even tho I was not the orig. owner
Garrett replaced the coil for free and recalibrated the detector and they paid return shipping charge. So you may have a renewed interest in the 1500
when it's fixed.

I sent that sucker back to the guy that sold it to me and I don't want it back. Drove me nuts.

Good thing he took it back......................

I got my Golden Umax today. I took it for just a real short test and it seems just like my Golden Saber II. I did notice that the Golden Saber would drop that tone down deep but I dig all the low tone targets anyway so it is not a problem. I believe it is the Cats Meow. I really don't understand why it is not a lot more popular. Studying all those meters and numbers takes all the fun out of detecting for me.

Mine seems to go down a tone or sometimes adds a mix of lower and higher. I agree the seven inch coil is nice, I have the Tesoro coil, the white, solid one but I suspect from what I have read the Troy coil is a bit more sensitive. I think my Eldorado is a bit deeper using the same coil size but at my age I really don

In just got back from a School Yard and it was hitting dimes deeper than I really wanted to dig. There is no depth problem for me with the Golden Umax.

I went into a little detector shop in Southern Indiana years ago and had no idea what I wanted but I was interested in detecting. The owner sold me a GS II. I am glad he did because it gave me some great finds. Now that I have a Vaquero I haven't used in much but this thread has got me thinking that I should pull it out for the next hunt.
