Need help identifying large reddish rock

Spotted this large reddish boulder in a public rock garden. On the top and sides you can see dark red streaks flowing downward over the rock, and along the back side and near the top, there are layers peeling off the stone like rust layers.

The rock appears to have iron properties but I am not sure what the mineral is causing the discoloration.

Sort of looks like a sandstone boulder to me. Perhaps more of a greywacke or “dirty” sandstone. This could explain the layering and flaking. The reddish coloration is exactly what you think it is – iron staining. But it’s doubtful there would be enough iron there to be detected with a magnet.
