NEED FEEDBACK ON OLD M/L DETECTORS

Could someone give me some feed back on the 705,505,305 detectors .Need a back up cheap detector that is in good working shape. At 84 can still swing one:thumbup:Would appreciate any feed back.Looking for any that still uses AA ,AAA, OR 9 VOLT. Thank you guys:help:

I never bothered with them because you need a bunch of different coils to change frequency. Now you can do it all with one machine and just buy one smaller or larger coil to fit your hunting location.

There's been some pretty cheap Deus 1 on the market. Extremely light weight if you just swing the rod & coil You can mount the remote on your arm to read numbers or just use tone ID.

Rather own one machine with one coil vs a bunch of other coils.

I personally love my 705 and will NEVER give it up! It was cutting edge technology when it was introduced, and there has never been another single frequency machine built that can do what it can. Its versatility is unmatched to this day, and about the only drawback is the need for additional coils to change frequency, but that's not in any way a deal breaker. These days the additional coils can be had cheap enough to make it a non-issue.

The ONLY real deficiency of the older single frequency X-Terras is their inability to hunt in wet salty conditions. They simply don't work well in wet salt sand or salt water.
 
I started out with the XTerra 50 which was the older version of that line and did well with it, even financing other detector buys with what I found with it.
They came with a 7.5 khz concentric coil and had several other coil sizes and frequencies to suit your needs… pretty versatile detector even now.
Battery life is good with it and it will work on rechargeable batteries too.
I love the large TID display.

The Xterra 705 was one of the most underrated metal detectors to have ever been produced by Minelab, I still feel that way about the xterra 705 to this very day, I still own my 705 and still pull it out at times when I do get to go out and detect, which is pretty much never at the moment, my only dislike that I could ever say about the Xterra 705 was having to change coils to change frequencies, the Xterra Pro is what I always felt the 705 could have been, the only reason I have not jumped on the Xterra Pro Band wagon is because the pro does not have a prospecting gold mode and the 705 had a fantastic prospecting gold mode with a true live threshold also that 3 KHz frequency that the 705 was capable of running when paired with the 6 Inch Coil tech Digger coil was one deadly detector on deep silver (high conductors)
