Necklace found

Found this necklace and tested it for silver and the test turned blue instead of red as it should have. Does anyone know what this means this is made out of. The only markings are Mexico on the back. This one is from several hunts ago been trying to determine what metal is. DIg if you see this it is the one I spoke with you about yesterday. Beautiful bracelet just do not know what kind of material it is.

Did you use the gold test acid on it??? It has a nice ,what looks to be, mother of pearl inlay...

Blue usually indicates copper or brass, but I don't know what test you are doing so perhaps that's not the case at all.

It is a pretty thing though!

Just did and nothing happened with 10 K acid and 14 K it disappeared. May be real after all. And yes it does have iridescence pieces embedded in some type of green material. WOW a freebee maybe junk to gold.

I am using JSP silver testing solution and have scratched tested and it reads 10K gold by that test. This is not copper or brass as I have scratched and filed and it is silver thru out. May have got lucky

You are not lucky. You are blessed with great finds from the detector gods. Now when I find something like that it is LUCK! HH :minelab:

Looking at the size of that thing it looks more like a bangle in size in your hand rather than a necklace,i have an identical one to that my bangle is mother of pearl inlay and definitely silver so you may have silver there.

Hope this helps you.

Most jewelry guys use 18 k acid to test Silver (,925) if the scrape turned Milky blue that means it silver.
