I went up home for my niece's birthday. She's 13 going on 25! I got both of the girls out for a hunt which is not very interesting to them anymore. We found coin number 2500 of the year as a team which was a real pleasure! Here's a fun thing to do. If you maintain a brag book make one section for friends who join you in a hunt. Stick their best find in a 2x2 and display it with all of your other goodies. Everybody who I include gets a big kick out of it. Here is coin 2500 for the year (Yes, I blocked out the name of the site! Why give up a good one?):

On the way back home I stopped six places I would never get to detect otherwise. They were all old schools or parks. At site one the wheats were flying out of the ground but no silver. Can't wait to get back there. Next few sites were not too good. Site four was good too. Wheats but no silver. A cool find from this site was this Gary Cooper Popsicle token. It's pretty old and pretty corroded as you can see:

Site five was loaded with clad and nothing else. In an hour there I found at least 100 coins! Site six I dug one coin and my finger started to bleed so I quit. Yes I'm a maniac. I hunted for exactly four hours between the six sites. Dug exactly 240 coins. That's a coin a minute and the first time in history I ever did that over a long day of hunting. This includes 17 wheat cents. A cool silver Buddha earring. Three junk rings. A 14k gold plated aquamarine ring. A few junk pins and pendants. Plus all the normal junk. Way over 300 targets in 240 minutes. Yes, I was very sore on Sunday, and yes, I still managed to get out and hunt later that day too, and yes, I found a boatload of coins. Total for the weekend was exactly 400 coins.
I got home, patched myself up, and got a call from my friend who patiently listens to all of my detecting stories. She's the greatest!
Chris
Very hot weather in our forecast. Plus its pretty dry. I'm back setting goals for myself and I'd quite like to hit coin 3000 in 2010 on Saturday. Another FYI. I recently passed $5000.00 in loot with my GTI 2500. I have a nice chunk of it sitting around waiting for something fun to spend it on. I have a few ideas.
Thanks for reading!
