my weekend finds :cam:

I went camping with my scout troop this weekend to an old farm built in 1833. The owner didn't have a problem with me detecting but he did say many others have been there.
I went by the house and found this. I thought it was an odd shaped belt buckle until I rinsed it off and found out those were screws around it. Now i have no idea.

Then I headed back halfway up the driveway back to the campsite and some of the younger scouts were trying to find stuff, and i gotta say, they did better than me except in pinpointing. so I ended up digging most of the items. The first decent thing was a 1939 nickle. A few canning lids later this came out of the ground. as soon as I saw it I thought of the NC confederate buckle relics4plus found. Let me know what you think. (I forgot to recheck the hole for the rest!) I hope I get to go back.

hi norton, that's what it looks like to me! the other half might be close by too! great find, i hope you find the other half. congrats, and keep us posted. hh,

The tongue to that buckle is probably close by. Need to hunt there hard and soon. Could be a nice Confederate piece and very valuable. Very nice find. Keep digging.

Did you remember to do your little jig?? Very nice, keep searching for the other half. CS Virginia style 2-pcs also used the same wreath. Wouldn't it be fantastic to find another NC? WOW, nice find.

Thanks relics, yes I did my happy dance, and it was spectacular. I had no idea VA and NC used the same style.

Yeah, I did some research after finding mine and found that out. That wreath was used on several different types of state plates as well as CS virginai styles though some had some minor differences.I hope you get back and find the other half. Awsome find indeed.

Whew buddy! Nice piece. Best of luck in finding the tongue to it! South Carolina used a similar wreath as well.

Congrats on the wreath!
