My trek to the pool ''n" the woods

The wildlife officer told me how to get to the pool. I don't think he knew there was a path from the opposite side. It is a surveyor's path from a residential area. Kind of a sensitive situation. The pool is over a quarter of a mile from the plantation house which is a historical site. The pool is not posted and it is city property. No need to bring up issues. I'll keep coming through the back door.

why would anyone build a pool that far from the house? it there any remnants of a home next to the pool? the place looks nice. good luck.

I could be wrong and I want to investigate it more. I think it was put there because that was it's source for water. There was an article in the paper about it and the pool was part of the plantation.

The pool was likely close to the source of its water as John says.
Also, it was likely a money maker for whomever owned the house - or the adjacent property. And getting to the pool several decades ago may not have been the arduous trek it is today. In fact the way to get to it may have been completely different.

That looks like a very interesting spot, John. Being just a visitor to Florida, all I can visualize is all the critters laying in the grass waiting to take a chunk out of me.

When walking our dog here at the campground, I shy away from the bushes; never know what's in them:help:

Hope you have lots of great finds there.

Lions, Tigers & Bears oh my.....looks kinda like a jungle....do you have enough room to swing the tector? Sniper coil would work well in that area.

Boy now that's back in the boonies for sure. Should be goodies there somewhere. Under the floor of the bathhouse would be a good spot.

Bill

Mother Nature wastes no time in reclaiming whats hers. The trees sure grew quickly around that pool area.

The place is about a half a mile from my house. We have had panther in my yard. Black bear in the lot behind my house and plenty of snakes. I am talking about two types of rattler, coral snakes and moccasin. My son came in the house with a scorpion on his shoulder. I told him to go outside and get the scorpion off his shoulder. He freak out. I find black widows all around the outside of the house. I have been bit by a brown recluse. I have seen them all. AND THEY ALL ARE IN THAT SWAMP!

Tooooooo..... many critters for me bud. Your probably use to it but man that would freak me out. Maybe some millionaire built the place and could not get rid of the critters and bailed.....or.....or.....maybe the place was an invitation only nudist camp in the bush.....or....or... ?

You better wear some body armor! Think theres any coins in the pool drain? Speaking of Scorpions - 2 weeks ago my family stayed at a resort just south of Branson MO. Big Cedar Lodge. My 10 year old son went to take a shower and yells "there's a scorpion in here" I said just take your shower already. He said it 2 more times so we all go in the bathroom and sure enough - a Scorpoin was running around on the floor. We caught it and I called the front desk thinking I had the only Scorpion in Missouri. They said - Oh, they like to come inside when the weather turns cold. We spray for them. Did everyone know theres Scorpions in Missouri?

Yes we've been living with MoMO (Missouri Monster) aka. Bigfoot for as far as I can remember. But Scorpions I'm scared of!
