I called to make sure it was alright for me to post this on the forums, its been hard keeping it to myself believe me.

My Tesoro Outlaw field test

Hi my name is Steve; I am a dairy farmer in upstate New York. I have been enjoying the hobby of metal detecting for almost 30 years. I have owned and used most of Tesoro

Steve
Great information. Thanks to you for writing up your experiences. Really helpful for me.
Happy Fathers Day

Thanks Steve, Tesoro could not have picked a nicer person to test the Outlaw.

Thanks Steve, for your practical and objective report......just wondering, how did the Outlaw go on discriminating out the serrated bottle caps..i.e. is it up to the standard of the Eldorado (Umax) or DeLeon...I know that DD coils have problems with these caps, but I was wondering more in relation to the concentric. Thanks, Pete.

Thanks Steve,

Now the next big question is how it will perform on relics, especialy the larger (buckle) sized ones at depth. I'm thinking that 12x10 DD might do the job.

Steve thanks for the review on the Outlaw.

I'm still in the dark on how the Outlaw sounds and how fast its recovery speed is. Maybe 53Silver will do a video so I can listen to it.:detecting:

White's detectors are way too heavy for me to swing for any length of time, but I will give them this, they make great demo videos for their detectors. hint hint

Thanks for the report Steve; I know a little more about the Outlaw now that I didn't before. Did you get to keep the Outlaw? If so, please keep the field reports and good honest opinions coming our way!

Thanks Steve, Good Review
Glad they picked you :tesoro:

Steve, Will this be the Tesoro that you will never let go? lol...... You know I had to ask you that.... :) Thanks for the review of Tesoro's latest detector!

Yes did get to keep the Outlaw (thanks Tesoro), really busy on the farm now but going to get out with the Outlaw as much as possible & will keep you all updated. If there is anything any of you can think of that I missed or forgot to mention in my report ask away by all means, its been along time since school (graduate in 1979) and I don't do very much writing.

I appreciate all the kinds words it means alot to me. I consider all you folks on the forum/forums my friends and have lots of respect for you's.

Good review Steve, Tesoro picked the right guy for the job.

Hi Pete, I didn't get alot of time in on using the DD coil, but from the times I used it I didn't get bottle caps. Not to take away from the Outlaw but for some reason there doesn't seem to be many bottle caps in the places that I hunt. I have used other detectors that are known for hiting on bottle caps and I didn't w/them either.

The first thing that comes to mind is how well does the 12x10 coil hit on smaller targets compared to the other coils? Also, depth tests or air test differences between the different coils to see how much you are losing or gaining from one coil to the next. Are the targets on the discrimination falling out right where they should be? Also, how well does it hit on the smaller jewelry like small gold chains that the Compadre can pick up where others don't? Not really burning questions for me and it's up to you how you spend your time with the unit but that's what I was wondering at the moment I checked in on this thread. I will, of course, enjoy reading anything new regarding your testing or finds with the new Outlaw that you wish to share, thanks Steve!:detecting:

Wish that I could help you out with how the Outlaw sounds tabman, writing a review was hard enough for me, a video is out of the qusetion. I can tell you that the recovery speed is very fast. I am sure now that Tesoro is selling the Outlaw that there will be people making videos soon.

Great post Habanero, I don't know why I didn't think to air test the Outlaw using all the coils but I will as soon as I can. My wife doesn't have any expensive jewelry but I will test what she has and post the results. I can tell you that a nickel discriminates out right @ the nickel setting and the zinc penny disc's out where it should as well using the 8" coil, I will test out the other coils to see how the discrimination is. I was kind of surprised how well the 12x10 hit on smaller targets, such as dimes and even pieces of foil. Looks like a bunch of ya are going to have to come up here and do the farm work for me for awhile so I can get some more time in on the Outlaw, lol.

Thanks for the posting you did great with it!!!

Is Luke to see you or someone take it to an iron infested site...square nails...and see how it does. Diggin tot lots and clad hunting doesn't interest me too much. Am about to get another Tejon, but may go for the outlaw if I think it will ad to what I already have.
