My Road Trip Update

Talked to Mike this morning he had just got at the park I reccomended. I could not meet up with him but I hope he does well. Sounds like he is having a fantastic time on the trip and I am anxious to see his final report...:detecting:

Tony, I'm sorry we couldn't work things so we could've hunted together, but maybe down the road it'll happen. You guys did a VERY good job working on that park, but you did leave me one coin which is now my new, oldest coin. I found an 1865 Indian Head there. As you said it would be, it was a pretty marginal signal, but the CTX brought it to light! Thanks for your help!!

I too wish we could have connected but anyway I am so glad that you found a good coin and have a new "oldest"! I too hope you take away a good memory of hunting in Ohio and that the old park gave up a keeper for you. Yes it is a difficult place to hunt but when you do make a find...it is generally a good one! :yikes:

My goal is accomplished. Having around 3700 miles on my truck since I left Idaho, I was able to find not one, but TWO large cents today in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I owe a big shout out to our very own SteveO, who helped guide me to the location. We were due to hunt it together, but Steve had to work today and rain is in the forecast for the next 2 or 3 days, so I made the best of it. The first one was an 1844 and the second one was 1837. I will do a complete write-up, with pictures, when my trip is complete. I'm now in NW New Jersey and continuing on to visit the last 6 states I've never been to. If there are more noteworthy events, I'll update as I can.

Man, that's awesome! I had a feeling you'd find one. Two is even better. Congrats!

Congrats on your success! I hope you make even more great finds before your trip is over!

The second goal of my trip is accomplished. I'm in Vermont now and it was the last of the 50 states I've visited. Best part is I'm meeting up with Jon (DigginVT) tomorrow for a hunt in some of his local spots. Tuesday, I'll be back on the road again.

Hunted with Jon and his friend Garry in Vermont today. What a great couple of guys. Hit some awesome sites and found quite a few relics. At the last stop of the day, I was fortunate to dig an iffy signal that ended up holding a crusty, green, round object and an 1854 Seated Liberty quarter. After Jon dropped me off, I cleaned the crusty, green, round object and it ended up being a 2 Cent piece. It's in bad shape, but I'm proud to have it. On the road again tomorrow.

Headed west again. I dug out the second seated dime of the trip yesterday in Indiana. It's in much better shape than the first one I got...which was also in Indiana. This one was 1887. I'll be working my way up through Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota next week. Almost 3 weeks yet to go. Silver tally thus far is 29...almost a one a day average, but I'm slacking. I didn't find any silver in PA or OH. It was shocking because I know both states have plenty.
