You didn't get any of that big weather did you TD?

From what little I saw on the TV news, some folks were having a real rough time...

Hello everybody !

I live in Europe and i am an avid beach hunter.

Parts of our beaches here were artificially created by adding sand coming from about 1 mile inland, at a place the sea came long time ago and where there was a roman village or camp.

Reason why we find roman coins and artifacts now and then.

Last time was for me at the beginning of this year, when I found two roman sestercius with my XP deepseeking metal detector. Coins were over 14" deep. One is from Hadrian, the other from Faustina the elderly, so roughly 1850 years old.

Not everyday finds !!

That's great Nick...

We didn't have many Romans around here.

Thanks guys for showing interest.

As I don't understand how to post a pic through a server (i mean "click to enlarge"..), I reduced my pics a lot to show you the two coins.

Left : Faustina the elderly, and right Hadrian.

Diameter of the coins is 1,2", hence the 14"detection depth.

Not as old as Tabdog's impressive collection, but still unusually old finds for a beach hunter.:detecting:
