Not really.

Sadly the ring is as phoney as a three dollar bill. I had hopes for a few seconds. John, you may reply with your "nitro" graphic.

The rest of the hunt was interesting. Still hot and humid. I drove up into the mountains where it was about 15 degrees cooler than where I live. A lot less humid too. Had my longest hunt of the year by far. 4.5 hours. The spot is a good silver site but unfortunately no silver and only one wheat. Plenty of clad and some cool old relics. A big old flat button was about ten inches down. Very old I'm guessing.

I'm 45 coins away from 5000 for the year. If you're interested, there are 199 coins in the photo. Had I known I probably had enough energy and daylight left to find one more. Lots of aches and pains this morning. Also sunburn a few places. I'll find those 45 coins next weekend. (Maybe later today!)

:usaflag:Chris...you still find more in one day than I have found in 4 months..lol.

If I had found that ring I would be doing a jig until the sun went down because I wouldn't know that it wasn't real. Maybe upon close examination, but I would be too excited to slow down and really look at it. Oh, the disappointment! So sorry it wasn't real.

I did a little dancing. I held out hope until I got home to examine it but I was pretty sure. I'd still be dancing if it was real.

199 coins is more than I have found since I purchased my detector over two years ago. You have to go where coins were lost and you have to dig and the coins will come. It sure is an inspiration to me to see someone find so many coins. Makes me want to fight the pain and head out. I made the mistake of getting out late Sunday afternoon and the heat was terrible and I found a rusty nail, a nut from some bolt and tin foil and some extremely small metal button. No coins, but at least if I pick up all the junk there will be nothing left but coins and maybe some jewellry. Congratulations.

A long time ago, when I got my first Garrett, I was hunting all the sites other detectorists were hunting and finding only a dozen or so coins each trip. As soon as I figured out where the other guys weren't going, I went there. Good luck and thanks for the kind words.
