My headphones broke. Kan't Hear good no more:confused:

Hay Willie,

Thanks for the offer, but I have a set of Whites and a set of Fisher M-Scope headphones. That stuff doesn't work as good as my cheep set of Radio Shack headphones.

I would be just as well of to not use headphones at all.

I shipped my Killer B's off this morning. I can do alright without them. Just can't ID targets.

DD,

Blew a rod on the freeway - yikes
My youngest is 18 also recently. He's in his first year of college and still at home. He's been my detecting buddy mostly for the last year as time permits. Our little dog is my full time detecting partner.
Your post got me to thinking that I should give the car I bought him a bit of checking. It's a Camry a couple years old and I don't know if he got the oil & filter changed when due. Yikes - I better check.
Anyway, the other day I finally got skunked detecting. I hit the flower garden area in the backyard since it's bare from the storm damage on the 1st week of the month, and were getting ready to put up new fencing. it's about 4 feet x 120 feet.
I tried the Compadre for the first time and zip - then ran the Silver uMax and Nada - then the Cortes and Nada 2, then the Tejon which I determined after all that, there was nothing but some nails and a few little chunky bits of foil.
But the Compadre had me worried a bit at first, then after swinging other machines with the same results made me feel better. I didn't think I would ever say I feel better not finding anything
Looks like I got a little break from the rain at the moment and a little time - grabbing the Compadre and :detecting:

Thanks again for the offer Willie.

I just ordered a set of Gray Ghost Originals.

That will get me a set of earphones as quick as anything except for driving for 6 hours one way. That's too much $$$ on gas.

When my Killer Bs get back I will have a bach up in case something should happen again.

The Gray Ghost have a life time warranty just like the Killer Bs. They may even be the same as the Killer Bs but with a different name. If so, that will be great. Killer Bs are killer headphones. We will see about Gray Ghost.

HH,

You will have to let me know how they work for you. I have the Bh's with volume control and a pair of Calrad's, not sure what the differences are with them, but I can hear with both of them.

Hay Willie,

I don't mean to be a headphone basher but I feel that it is important that detectorist understand the difference between quality metal detector headphones and and those of lesser quality. Whites, BH, Calrads, Fisher M-Scope, Garrett and other low priced headphones just don't have the specifications to compete with Killer B's, Grey Ghost, Nuggett Busters or Balck Widows. Fisher does make some nicer headphones but the economy ones don't work well.

The cheaper ones have lower quality materials but even more important is the fact that they sound muffled and you just can not tell what's going on.

I've heard people comment on how they stopped watching their TID and started paying attention to the environment and listening for a good responses.

I find using my Whites or Fisher M-Scope is like listening to a conversation through a wall. I can hear it, but I can't tell what they are saying. It's too muffled.

I would just as soon use nothing as use cheep ones. It's more fun.

HH,

Tabnabit,

Over the years I've learned confidence in my Tesoros, as your test just showed.

If anything is left behind, someone's gonna work hard and long to find it!

And, I've pulled targets from footsteps of others who beat me to a site.

One day I'd like to have a whiz-bang sparkly machine with bells and whistles, intricate program menu's with 64 page aftermarket books written about them, and backlit screens and all that stuff so I could belly up to the bar and talk about all kinds of stuff with the good ole boys... But Tesoro doesn't provide much opportunity for all that.

Mine are straight forward, liteweight and a pleasure to use. They accomplish what is expected of a quality tool.

Even though I've never recovered much gold and silver, I can't fault my machines. With my customary settings I always get a respectable range of targets in which a valuable item would normally fall. If I don't get something in particular, it wasn't there...

HH
