My greatest coin spill ever

Saturday I found this absolutely beautiful silver half.
But on Sunday only a short distance away I came upon a massive coin spill. I was using a nox 800 and it was jumping all over the place. I thought it was can slaw but I dug it anyway.
The hole produced 26 memorials, 23 Wheaties, 2 nickels, 3 Rosie's, and 1 Merc 1941.
The oldest Wheatie was 1914.
It took me 20 minutes to extract all the coins. In the end I was down 12 inches.

I remember Elmy's story about passing up a signal like that, only to have a kid with a beep 'n dig hit a huge coin spill-- I think about that quite a bit when I hit the kind of signal you describe.

Unbelievable awesome find a friend had a spill with 5 silvers quarters and dimes back to the 1850’s you don’t come across finds like that too often! Nox scores again!

Others have asked me this. The newest was 1976 and the oldest was 1959. There was a Canadian penny dated 1951.

The composition of that spill is kind of mystifying. Are you counting the 51 Canadian cent in with the Memorials? If separate, it makes for a roll of cents, otherwise 49 pennies. (Still a possible roll)

Almost a 50, 50, split between Memorials and Wheats, which seems kind of strange since the coins seemingly had to have been lost of buried after 1976. And then, why only 4 dimes? More interesting, though, the dimes being all silver when the spill was lost or buried after 1976.

What type pf location were the coins found. This is one of those times you wish those coins could talk. Seems like there could be a tale there. Again, good job! HH jim tn

The spill was in a large park on the edge of grass and woods. It is at the top of a large hill where sledding took place up to 1950. It was called Suicide Hill because it was so dangerous.
I'm thinking the 1976 coin doesn't belong. It was just there.

We will never know why all those coins were there. I guess the kid theroy is as good as any. I am still flabbergasted by it all. This could be the spill of a life time and I've been doing this for 20 years.
