My finds from yesterday

I am PO'd, after that last BS statement you made the only thing I would like to stomp on is your head
 Im sorry Icant help but reply . You seem to have a sense of humor HT , and tell it like it is , but I cant stop laughing at U , because I think U R funny naturally , but the Ace 350 has got U in check. And now U want to stomp on poor Johns head:rofl:. I hope U can figure a little bit out with the ace.Simply from me, I'm glad there are no trees around when I am hunting in a trashed out junky ugly as a mud fence area , or I would do worse than stomp something. Hang in there!

What's wrong with the 350? It's a great coin getter. It's just a souped up version of the 250 and we all know what a coin magnet that one is.

One thing you'll have to get used to and practice with is the DD coil. It doesn't perform anywhere like a concentric.

Bill

Yeah we all have those crummy days, we just don't talk about them much. HA. I once hunted a huge bark chip playground thoroughly and didn't find one penny and I thought I was really going to clean up.. There are lots of places totally devoid of coins. It's just all part of this hobby. Can't blame the detector. I ran into a lot of that when I ran the Garrett Classroom - folks who constantly blamed their detector for the abscence of coins or their inability to operate the machine.

Bill

Yeah they are the scourge of this hobby and something we just have to live with. Detectors ain't magic and they can only do so much.

Bill

It's a known fact that DD coils love bottlecaps and there is no way to escape that. Were you aware of that?

Bill

Yeah detecting ain't a piece of cake as some folks seem to think. It takes lots of time, patience, a world of practice, and perseverence.

Bill

HT: Those are the caps that almost always identify as quarters on almost any brand of detector, any size aluminun will do the same, DD coils love the rusted steel bottle caps. Thats the bad news, the good news is that after getting to know your detector very well, (300-500) hours of use, suttle differences in the tone will clue you in to the rusty steel bottle caps, the aluminum usually you cat tell by size. The challenge is to have the patience to not destroy your detector until you get there. Steve

One of those tabs you dug could have been a big gold ring. Then what would your post say? Maybe you need a Sniper coil to get around some of that trash? The machine is a metal detector. It did it's job. I think you just hit a spot that was difficult to hunt?

My post would say Ring found, just like a few more in here your not keeping up with all the post, it's the steel bottle caps I WAS having trouble with.

I almost hate to jump in on this, but this is a common problem with detector's using DD type coils.

One of the drawbacks to DD designed coils, is they have a tougher problem dealing with rusty bottle caps.

Find yourself a concentric designed coil, and I'm sure a lot of the bottle cap problems will be minimized.

Good luck
Mr. Bill
