I would probably say I got lucky, man I'm tired went hard for six hours, but I did get silver

It was, right at the well I'm going home find lol. And of course under a root six inches down

If you can find any pictures of the area at or near the coin date you will probably see the trees were just planted or still very young, thus any dropped coins get under the growing tree roots.
There is a pathway in a park like setting I hunt that usually has high EMI interference. I managed to catch it there one day when the EMI was nearly non existent and hit a good large coin VDI. Just 10’ off the sidewalk and under a root I recovered a Barber Half Dollar. Cant even tell you how many times that area has been swept by numerous people……had to dig off the side then go back under. Tough but worth it!!!

I could see that working

I made that out of a square shank 12" cheap screwdriver. Very hard steel. Had to heat it to glowing red to hammer out the shape. To pin the handle to the shaft. I had to aneal it, heat to red and let air cool to be able to drill it. Then reharden the whole thing and case hardened the spoon section for wear. Did the Draw method in sand in the oven at 400° for two hours. Removes stress in the steel. My favorite tool.
