My find of a lifetime.....Gold coin !!!

Wow Great coin, That's one to keep forever.
I know you said it accompanied a penny, but I'm curious what it sounded like all alone? zinc penny?

Congrats on an amazing find, thanks for sharing!!

Ed,

Was it the 10" wheatie that made you stop in dig or did you get a decent signal on the gold piece? I suspect that the majority of gold coins lost were the smaller denomination that hit like foil, tabs, etc. Suspect I've had my coil over some but never stopped to dig. I'm thinking my first will be part of a pocket spill that had silver coins with it.

All I know is, Ed, you dug the TOUGH one...from a VDI perspective. According to my stuff, a $1 gold coin hits around 09-05, close to a nickel. The $5 gold coin hits at around 07-22, lower than a zinc but down where I have dug a an Indian or two, the $10 hits 07-26, just above a zinc. But, the $2.50 coin hits around 08-11...and NOTHING, coin-wise, hits there...

From a cherry pickers standpoint it would probably be passed up, but if it's a solid hit I will dig it.

Kazowie...........that is one beautiful coin:yikes:..............WTG.......Hawkeye Jim.

I can't believe how great your coin looks. Pretty amazing. I wondered if you caught the numbers on this one or just dug it by sound? Pretty neat, gives us all a little more hope.
