My early thoughts on the AT Pro...:clapping:

I am constantly surprised at what I find going back to fields and lots I have pounded with other machines that just could not separate the trash from the treasure...The AT Pro is just pure Bliss to use...

HH,

Thanks, Jerry.

John - Some good points. Thinking about it, I wonder if the iron audio has something to do with the drain?

William - I've noticed the same one bar sluggishness. No doubt lithiums would last longer than alkalines, but they are really expensive.

The manual says to replace the batteries at one bar. Guess there's a reason!:geek:

Found some nice batteries and need info. Nickel-Zinc AA rechargeables. They are 1.6V instead of 1.5V. They are also very highly recommended for equipment that has higher current drain.

Would using these in the ATPro be safe? Since the voltage out would be 6.4V instead of 6.0V.

I think running with iron audio on does drain the batteries faster. I was out today, and the batteries went form 3 bars to 1 in two hours. I turned iron audio off, dropped sensitivity from max by one bar, and the battery meter returned to two bars and it held for another hour. I found my fifth mercury dime in one month....so no complaints. 14 or so hours on this set of batteries.

I just got my new AT Pro. I took it in the backyard to play around and did not take one step before I heard the "beep" and got a wheat penny 1951 8 inches down, just like the scale indicated. Then, the wife had me rake leaves.
