My CONS ON THE MXT PRO

[size=large]Hunt4fun,
Monte held the first seminar i ever attended just prior to me getting my XLT.one year ago this week. and srf2112, you make some good points for trying to use it.i'm hoping to get out torrow for practice so will re-mount the dx-1 and see how i do.

srf2112 is right on. Once you become familiar with the probe it provides lots of other analysis clues beyond just pinpointing.

Use only one of the probe mounting clips on the shaft. One clip will hold it in place just fine unless you are moving through thickets. And having the probe held by only one clip makes it much easier to attach and remove the probe.

Been reading posts by Monte for many years now. I consider him the Grand Master Of Detecting.

Regarding HUNT4FUN'S comment on stronger DX-1 probe response on the MXT, I've noticed the same drop in sensitivity between my MXT and a Minelab Explorer with X-1 probe. I'm just wondering if it's because all the machines, (DFX, V3i, Explorer) are multi frequency? Maybe that limits the sensitivity slightly? All the same I think it's a great probe and glad to have it on both machines.
This is something to ask Ralph on the SunRay Forum.

[size=large]well, i mounted the dx-1 back on the shaft. used one bracket left the garrett probe and the leche knife and find pouch all in the truck .
grabbed my leche shovel and machine and went hunting last night. it was great. didn't get all tired out.learned a heap and am going to clean up the aussie machine and say good-bye to it.the mxt is so much simpler and so far funner.

Am truly happy for you. I knew if you could get those great pieces of equipment setup so they worked right for you that you would be a happy camper. The combination of an MXT or MXT Pro and a DX-1 is a tough team to beat. Pay close attention to those whisper signals and the Pro will deliver deep targets too.

[size=large]another thing. i almost think i won't need any other coils. i have the 5.3 and the 950 but that D2 really gets in-between the trash for now.
Keep hunt'n.

I agree, the 10DD coil works great on an MXT. However, I think you will really appreciate that 5.3 coil in a high trash site. And since the 5.3 is lighter than the 10DD, you can hunt all day with it. I have hit dimes at an honest 6 inches with it. Don't give up too quick on that little coil. It will amaze you at times.

Some of my Southern California beaches have lots of black sand but for me the 950 works better on them than the 10DD. The 950 does a lot less falsing. Having extra coils is a good thing.

[size=large]i really learned the value of the 5.3 with my XLT. and it did surprise me at it's depth. I'm still learning it. i have yet to really try running it with more sensitivity so i expect my mxt version to do just as well. and the dx-1 probe worked just grand today. didn't find but six clad pennies but it felt good to use it.very handy.
