Good guess. Snuff tin??Is there writing on the inside tag? I think it is a pivoting top or lid but not sure what, yet.
No writing anywhere on it. I believe it’s brass. Has what appears to be clusters of grapes & grape leaves around the outer edge. The figure in the middle holding maybe a rifle, bat or something else. The hat is kinda pilgrim style, and possibly balloon pants. I’m kinda reaching on all of that…Is there writing on the inside tag? I think it is a pivoting top or lid but not sure what, yet.
No other pieces around it that we know of. I’m thinking perhaps it was a cover to something. It looks “Pilgrim-ish”. Quite baffling. With the greenish “rust” I lean towards copper. Is it possible that the other half may still be nearby? Im a bit confused, the attachment hole is at the bottom so if a chain was used to carry then the image would be upside down. Interesting little find.
Object being carried is held like a rifle so thinking its a pilgrim figure…..
