My anti-virus is about to expire for Vista - any recommendations

I too use A.V.G. it is great but be careful which version you download because my Cptr technician told me one of them downloads and does a good job for a while but it puts a virus on your cptr then after a few weeks they tell you they picked up a virus and ask you for Money to fix it. I have version 9.0.830 and it's great.

I am very happy with mine. Cheers Maureen..

I forgot to mention there is a new free one but i just can't recall the name if you are interested i will ask my technician the name.
Apparently the update every day compared to A.V.G. who don't do it too often i think they do it every 4 weeks not sure on that though.

Cheers Maureen..

This one is for Mike

I too have heard that the essentials is very good our cptr guru on the radio recommends it.

Also Mike i know you have an Excalibur and are very successful with it.I purchased one last week any tips for usage, maybe some good beach settings our beaches here in Ozz are very clean.

Cheers Maureen..

in order for avg to work correctly it has to be installed and setup properly. and scans...all scans slow pcs down. dosent matter if its got 2 gig gpu and a i7 chip...will still cause system to run a lil bit slowly.

also, a lotta people unwittingly install toolbars...which are resource hogs. facebook games are resource hogs. i use avg and have had no problems. id an scan links for you. most up to date freeware and most trusted and used by computer geeks.

Grumpyolman is right - AVAST! is top notch. I've used AVG in the past (it's OK), Norton (avoid like the plague). I've tested Kaspersky on a work PC (which you can buy at Costco) and it seems to be a close seconf to Avast. I currently have the paid version of AVAST!, but the free limited version is really decent. Good luck

Add my vote for AVG, I have been building my own pcs for over 10 yrs and have used AVG for at least that long without any issues
