I post mostly on the relic forum but I use the MXT 100% of the time. Just wanted the MXT users to know this machine pulls real treasures!!! This is a 1st Dragoon Martingale!!! Dates early to mid 1840's, found in a Dragoon campsite I located recently. I have been talking with several collectors and they have never seen one before, quite rare!!! Here are the dug photos I took 05/04/09. MXT is simply the BEST!!! Thanks for looking! :)

WOW! Thanks for sharing your find. I've never heard nor seen one of those before. Nice pictures too! HH, Nancy

One darn good machine.............

What a great find!!! Most all of us have only seen those in a book. Could you post a after cleaning picture??
Again Great Find!

I only did a light brush, still got some dried dirt on the back. I'm leaving it all original "as found" for now.

Last night I was gently scraping dirt off with my fingernail and to my suprise...I revealed what looks like someone had used a punchet tool and stamped the number 19!!!!!!!!!! This could mean anything but more than likely the horses were assigned specific equipment. There could of been multiple riders but it sure would be cool if it only had one rider and trace back and find who it was!!! :) Thanks for looking!

Very interesting! Let us know if you find out anything more about it. Thanks, Nancy

Hi Fred,
Dragoons are what the Cavalry was 30 years before the Civil War. Originally stationed out of Jefferson Barracks St.Louis Mo. in 1833. Branched out to western forts to patrol and provide safe passage for caravans heading West. Dragoons and Rifleman were discontinued and converted to 1st.and 2nd Cavalry during the Civil War. This was found in Kansas along the Kansas and Mo. border. :)

End of dragoons sound like about time Jessie James was born wasn't he around there somewhere after the civil war ?Thanks for reply

It is a fantastic machine! One thing that I learned on this prospecting trip is that the pinpointer switch does not work in Prospecting mode. Jimmy Sierra did not mention this in the video but White's factory Rep confirmed that the pinpointer does not work in the the Prospecting Mode. Make a note of this.
Speep the coil 90 degress to pinpoint the target or use the heel ot toe method to pinpoint.....jim

What Hillbilly Bob explained me when I asked the same thing is that it also cancels out ground tracking when you are pin pointing in prospect mode that way it wont track out your target.[makes sense] :ausflag:

Cheers Ron

Yep, the tracing stops if the trigger is squeezed or in the forward position. Rob
