MXT Question?????

YARDFISHING said:
Vito, you asked me how I set the machine up for the test. I know this because i read your post 3 times. I PMed you explaining just what you asked about. Then you send me a pm telling me that what I sent you was worthless because I PMed the info to you instead of posting it on the forum. (I sent you the PM because YOU asked the question) Had there been any other discussion about what i had posted i would have posted in the forum but since YOU are the one that inquired about it I PMed you the info. From there you tell me that Jeff Fosters book is for beginners. I am in no way ofended by that, I just don't agree with it. Then somehow you go from that to telling me I need a PI machine rather then an ID machine. So now I'll do the rundown here on the forum since it is obiously a sin to PM you an answer to the question YOU asked.

I do an air test
You ask how I set it up
I send a PM and answer you. I mention Jeff Fosters book "THE MXT EDGE"
sounds simple so far huh!
YOU tell me the PM is worthless because i didn't answer you in the forum.
You then say this book is for beginners(must be your opinion) which is ok with me.
Then out of the blue with no explination you say i would (in so many words) be better served with a PI machine rather then an ID machine.

You really lost me on this one Vito. If it makes you feel better I wil not PM you again, Anything you hear from me (If any) will be in the forum per your request.

Thanks for the valid question and the twilight zone response to the answer.

Yardfishing, what I do is just to follow the good rules. If I'm asking a question on a board and will get a relpy via pm I keep this private. A reply on board can be discussed and will give the thread more variation. The pm will not have this effect while it's kept in place.
My answer about the PI machine was depending on the FAINT signals. If all the test was done on FAINT changes in threshold without visual/tone ID (as your pm says) you have to listen no longer that way stressed to the faint changes in threshold to get the targets.

The MXT is a target ID machine. If in correct hands one can say what he digs before the first dirt is moved. Having the capability of a threshold is a very nice gift on this, even on some very deep targets, right out of reach of IDing. (detectors edge). But in the field it is useless as long as this change in theshold is confirmed by the user. Could also be only a selective change in mineralisation.

And about jeff's book, yes, it's my opinion. lOl

Now, right with this postings you see what I mean. Discussion. Otherwise I'd asked for the settings via pm, you agree? (not to leave anything in the TwilightZone...lOl)

Thanks for the response.

Vito

Obviously, it was a loaded question and wasn't answered in the way you desired. I know there are people that know their machines very well but would be impressed to find anyone that could tell without fail what a target is before digging 100% of the time. I would certainly take those lessons. I don't think we will get on the same page with this one so i'll just end it now.
HH and good luck.

KC, thanks for the info. Sounds like I should have some fun with the MXT. Your data is in line with all the other reviews that I've read about the MXT and depth.

starvin, :goodnight: Just wanted to thank you and all the guys and gals for your prayers and thoughts I didn't come out too good so far, but thats life, All I can do is keep putting my trust in god that this thing will go away. Got a merc at 10"-12". It was a solid but slightly faint signal that sounded super sweet. Was in relic mode with trigger forward, +1 sens.

I was showing the detector off to my uncle when I moved across my Grandfathers yard (first time at his place), the signal rang out and the vdi showed a steady readout. I pinpointed and knew it was a good target. He ran to the tool shed and came back with a spade shovel and dug a 1x1 foot plug in the yard, lol. It was in the tip of the plug. Still have it to this day. That coin was the one that hooked me to this hobby. I started off thinking I would like relic hunting, but that coin made me want more of those old silvers. I just love the look of mercury dimes.
